Hello Everyone,
I`m getting married May 15, 2004, and i`m having a hard time getting my reception in order. My father`s friend is D. Jing the wedding, but he is new at it so I am trying to get everything in order for him. One problem, I`ve never done this before. I dont know when I should have the dallor dance, cake cutting, garder toss, and what ever elde there is I need to do. Could you please offer some help?
Thank You So Much,

Hello and Congratz,
I think it is really cool that your dad is going to DJ at your wedding reception. :) First of all what time of the day is your wedding and reception? Are you having a buffet style or sit down reception? How many people are you planning on having at your reception? You should sit down and make a list of everything that you are planning to do at the reception if you want him to play certain things. Make sure you give yourself and your guest enough time for each thing. Also remember your time guild is not set in stone for the most part. You or your dad can adjust things if need to ..:) If you need more help please feel free to email me at angwillard@yahoo.com

Hello again,
Oops sorry for the mistake of thinking that your dad was DJing.. Ok first step would to be to know the basic stuff for your reception. Make a list of things like when your ceremony will end and how long it will take you and your groom to get to the reception area. Most of your guest will most likely be there aready. Then your announcement, if you are going to have any music playing while people eat, ect. Start your time line something like this...
Ceremony ends at 5:00
Bride and Groom arriving at Ceremony 5:30
Bridal Party introduction 5:40
Bride and Groom introduction 5:45
Music playing during people going thro buffet line & eating 5:50 - 6:30
Cutting of cake 6:45
Ect....
Something like that.. If nothing else dont put times in at first. Run through your big day. Make time lines from when you get up. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get things down without feeling rushed and dont forget to take time out to eat..:) The only times that will be set in stone is the time your ceremony starts and when your reception will start.
If you want to get into more details feel free to email me at angwillard@yahoo.com List things you have going so far.

Ok, I`m trying to keep my reception down to 200 people,
The reception is going to start at 6:00pm and last until 1:30 or 2:00am. I want to get the cake cutting and dollar dance over as soon as I can. I thought we would do the garder toss at about 10 or 10:30,do you think that is too late?, and in between everything I want to do dances that will involve all my guest, like the soul train line dance or some people call it the stroll, I want to do the hustle, and maybe the chicken dance, but I would really like to do something different, i`m just not sure what. I`m trying to get all this music together to please all my guest and i`m going CRAZY! All I`m worried about is making everyone happy. Everyone tells me that my D.J can make or break my wedding. I,m really affraid i`m going to mess everything up by me picking all the songs!!
