Casual Beach Wedding In Ct Or Nj HELP!

There are plenty of places to have a wedding on the water, but so many of them are super upscale and want to cater the whole thing themselves. I am looking for a laid back location that will allow me to have a ceremony on their private beach, and then some sort of barbecue/backyard party type of thing on the grounds, with an option to go inside if it rains. I want to do all my own food and decorations. Any suggestions? i have exhausted the internet. Thanks! and happy wedding to al!

Hi, ryanna --

Don`t know whether or not I can help, re NJ sites. But let me make sure I`ve understood -->

*You`re looking for a private beach for the ceremony as well as the reception.
*An indoor site must be available there in case of bad weather.

Now, questions -->

*If in NJ, north or south beaches?
*Although you want to cook & cater your own food, will you need to use a kitchen at this site?

With confirmation & answers, I might be able to do a bit of digging around. Please write me directly at the email address above.

Regards,
Bonnie

Hi Bonnie. I am not quite sure how to obtain your email address, i am new to message boards, so let me know if i am missing something.

But yes, you are correct in all of your recap on my wedding idea, except that we will have a clambake company come in and do all the cooking and barbecue-ing outside with their own equiptment. So esentially, we are looking for property, beach/backyard like with the option to go inside, and use the bathrooms inside.

Are you a wedding planner? let me know if you come up with anything on the water. Thanks for the help!

Hi again, Ryanna --

My email is: bonnie-mbds5853@mailblocks.com

I`m not a wedding planner, though I`ve fallen into that role from time to time. And I`ve become good at that, too!

My husband & I create & perform customized wedding *ceremonies* for couples who need or seek something between a traditional "religious" ceremony & a quicky one at the local courthouse. We`re open to all faiths & traditions, simple through complex, & work w/ couples to co-create a ceremony that represents them as honestly as they want to be for each other during their ceremony.

If you need an officiant to help create a ceremony whose every word & movement represents the real "you"? ... That`s why we began creating such ceremonies 7 years ago for my college students.

If not, that`s quite okay....

We`re in PA, close to NJ & DE borders. One of my brothers lives in Avalon NJ. So we have possible NJ contacts for you in southern Jersey. We`ve done a few weddings in northern Jersey, too, but w/ fewer familiar contacts.

***Knowing whether south or north Jersey beaches remains a primary question for me!***

Feel free to contact me further, regarding any of this.

With best wishes for the New Year,
Bonnie

Hi Ryanna,

I am getting married in September, 06--4 months. I have been struggling with the same thing. I have known for a year we were getting married in september and nothing was coming to mind. Everything I checked into just wasn`t right. I guess it depends on how many guests you are having. Ours is small 30-50. What we decided to do is rent a beach house. Because we were looking for the same things. Something intimate, our own space to do what we needed, grass and beach, our house will sleep 12-16 people, our other guests will rent at a local hotel. We are doing our own food and music, also a friend is doing our vows. Our house was only $500 a night. Everything else that I looked into renting a space with a reception hall was around$2500 by the time I got done. And it wasn`t private! Now I am excited about planning the rest of my wedding! Hope this helps and good luck. I know it is very frustrating when things don`t come together. Kelly

I am getting married in July 7/7/07... I was also thinking about renting a beach house in NJ for the wedding and having it on the beach itself. Parking can become an issue however, especially at that time of year. If anyone has any info I am also interested. Let me know!

Hi Kelly,

I am in the same boat as all you girls. I am getting married July 07` myself and I was reading your email about renting a house on the beach. I really would love to find something like that myself. I am looking into so many different ideas. I want to have unforgettable day with my guests leaving the party saying... Wow! that was a great wedding and lots of fun... My perfect day would be everyone getting together and party`in.music in a nice open area ex. Beach or grass area... Having accommedations for close family members.. Catering good food and just having a blast....

Hi Ryanna,

I would love to do something like that. Clam Bake on the Beach or a rented property... It is difficult in New York. I wanted to do it out East-Long Island.

If anyone has any suggestions, I am open to all.

Thanks,

Nicole

Hello! I am looking for the same thing in CT or Rhode Island..we are getting married in June 2008, and I cant find the "perfect" beachy spot. My idea is a classy beach barbecue..white tent with side closures in case it rains. But I cant seem to find much...I wouldnt mind it being in Rhode Island iether, but I have no clue where to look. Have you decided on renting a beach house? I have plenty of time to think about it, but Im trying to think ahead. Any ideas? Thanks so much and good luck with your search!

I found someone online who offers really pretty beach wedding favors and even had a few wedding dresses they are on Ebay under the name of Beach-Bridal I know that doesn`t help you find a location but it might help you get your favors and stuff.

I found a few places that do weddings on the beach, but overall I was unsucessful. We decided on the Crystal Point in Point Pleasant on the Manaquan River. You can try:
Merrimakers - Water`s Edge in Sea Bright OR Bonnet Island LBI
McCloone`s or McCloone`s pier house (Monmouth county)
White Sands in Point Pleasant
Ocean Place in I forget (Monmouth county)
Engleside and the Seashell on LBI do weddings in the off season....
Martells in Point Pleasant does weddings also

For the people looking to do a clam bake if you go to Jenkinson`s Boardwalk, they offer a Clam bake wedding and it is beautiful. Very simple yet wonderful, (not a bad price either)

On that note, I am looking to do the same. My wedding is on April 25, 2008. We live in NC but are having the wedding in Toms River, NJ as that is where we are from. I am looking to do a VERY VERY simple wedding. I love the beach idea but I`m nervous about grand-parents falling and such and not being able to get around in the sand, soooooo. Anyone have any ideas?? The guys will be in Kilts and the girls in beautiful dresses and me in my pretty white dress. We are looking to do casual cause thats what my fiance and I are. Any help would be wonderful!

Merrimakers does a tent wedding at Sandy Hook, overlooking the bay. I think they do it right by the old church that is out there. We looked into it, but already booked a place.

You can also try local parks. I know you can rent out Gillie Park in Forked River. Maybe you can rent out Huddy Park in Toms River (on the river).
