Father Daughter Song For Wedding(may 15,2004)
I come from a family where my father is an alcoholic. Because of the emmotional abuse, I was never close to him. I still love him because he is my father and he did work hard to support us. He just lost his way. All he really has is us since no one can deal with his problem. Anyway, I am finding it hard to find a song that relates to us. All the father daughter songs represent a relationship that is very close or one in which the daughter is the only girl in the family. Does anyone have any suggestions?.....................

I fully understand and have been having the same issue, BUT last night we were going thru songs and I listened to 2 that I am going to choose between, 1. The way you look to night
2. Beautiful World.

I think you should use your imagination and write the lyrics of your own song and then have some one write the music and then it will be exactly what you wanted it to say,

My father isnt an alchohlic or anything, but we never had a good relationship. When I listen to Daddy Daughter songs, they just make me sad that I missed out on that kind of relationship. When I think about my wedding, I hope that my father will show up and walk me down the aisle. I dont even know if he can or would do the dance. The song that I chose is one of my favorite songs that makes me happy when I hear it. "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong.

He may have his faults, but there is no doubt that your father loves you. Instead of focusing on a father/daughter relationship, try to redirect your attention to the way your father feels about you.
This is a special song and it may even bring him (and you) to tears. It`s "She`s Got A Way About Her" by Billy Joel. These words could describe exactly what your father feels.
