Substitions For Rice Throwing
Hey guys...........I was wondering if any of you have any great ideas for a fall themed wedding ....what the guests can throw as we walk out of the church. I am trying to be different and everyone does bubbles and I would like to do something kind of unique. I thought about buying the fall fake leaves and doing something like that for people, but I was told that would be alot of picking them back up and that it wouldnt be smart. Any neat ideas out there for us or should we just revert to the bubbles???

Personally i love the idea of throwing leaves, but i guess it would be alot of hassle :(
What about using sparklers??? Ive been at a few wedding where they did that and they were really pretty (especially in pictures)!

I think sparklers look pretty, but they can also burn holes in material. I wouldn`t want to have holes in my wedding dress. Same thing with the bubbles. They will stain most fabrics, especially silk and satin. I wouldn`t want this to ruin my dress either. I have seen people have butterfly releases, but then again, this can also be flawed. Dove releases are a bit more humane but can be extremely expensive. We too didn`t want to do rice or flowers so as an alternative, we are attaching ribbon to dowel rods (in our colours) and each guest gets to wave one. Very simple and inexpensive. Just by 1/4 inch dowels precut to foot long sections, using a hot glue gun, glue on ribbon cut to 1 foot sections each (in your colours). Voila! a nice way to send you off and a wedding favor too! Hope this helps
Good luck with whatever you decide to do

Hello!
Congratulations on your upcoming celebration! :)
Please know that a very popular "Shower" has been evolving lately. This one involves the use of rose petals. I create the rose petal favors that are cone shaped. The rose petals are nestled securely in the cones, ready for the showers of blessings.
A more fun approach is the use of wedding bubbles. While the miniature bottles can be decorated nicely, this is a great way to introduce the fun aspect of the ceremony.
I create both types of favors for less than $1 per guest, which also includes delivery. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance in any other way.
You may email me , or you may click the link on my page at this website.
Have a wonderful time planning your special celebration! :)

I know a lot of people that have done bird seed. It`s extremely inexpensive (you can find it as low as .10 for a 5lb bag) and good for the environment. Just wrap it up in like you would rice.

I am getting married in June 2004. I decided that I am going to give everybody a balloon on a string and they can let them go when we come out of the church.
You can use them for decorations before and during the ceremony.

We just got married in November and had a total fall theme. We had the flower girl drop fall silk leaves as she came up the aisle. I could not figure out what to do when we came out of church. Our weather in the midwest is fickle and we couldn`t of known if it would be 60 degrees or -10 below in November, so butterflies, doves and the like were out. I thought maybe those streamer poppers things, but was afraid if it rained or snowed it could stain my dress. We did Kazoos! Everyone thought it was hilarous. I got them online. They were imprinted with "Thank you for sharing our Wedding day " they were white imprinted in gold. They came that way so I assume we are not the first or only ones who have used them. You could also use noisemakers. Hope this helps! Good LUck. (By the way our Fall theme ended up beautiful, I`m so glad we did it)! Go for it!

I am getting married on Valentine`s Day, and I love the celebratory nature of the ribbon wands. Pardon my ignorance, but what do you do about the hot glue showing on top of the wands after you have glued the ribbons on? Is there a "finishing" step to make them look polished? They sound wonderfully different and easy to make!

Make sure you buy clear glue, put a dab on the tip of the stick and wrap the ribbon around the stick. Hold it there until it sets. No glue should show through. Hope this helps. I`m glad someone else likes my idea. Thanks sarah

Hi,
Congratulations on your wedding. I personally think that throwing rice which is steeped in such tradition would be great in the fall as that is when rice is harvested. You might want to consider throwing rice that is still in it`s hull, and can be obtained at many warehouses. It is brown in color and would be beautiful for the fall, and you`ll feed the birds too! I`m so glad that they finally got over that stupid myth that it`s bad for birds! If that were the case all the birds on and around our farm would starve to death! Have a great event.
