Turning Down Wedding Invitation

What would be the expected thing to do if one was not able to accept an invitation to a wedding ? Are you expected to send a gift anyway with your regrets?

It all depends on how close you are to the bride or groom. For example if they are someone close to you and your just not going because of circumstances beyond your control, than i would send a gift. If i am not going because they are acquintences and i am not close to them, than i would not send a gift.

But even something simple as a card would cost you almost nothing (try the dollar store, they have them for 50 cents) plus a postage stamp, and theere you have spent less than a dollar and i am sure it will them happy.

Or if you wnat to buy something inexpensive and send it with someone who is going to the wedding to save on postage.

You should always send a gift. Athough you don`t technically have to, it is the right thing to do.

Kerry is correct -- it is appropriate to send a gift when invited to a wedding even if you do not attend. It doesn`t matter how close you are to the bride and groom, if you are invited one should send a gift. If you opt to not send a gift, then that is your decisions but typically guests who don`t attend the wedding do send a gift.
