January-February Wedding

I am having my wedding on January 31. I am debating on my colors. I have chosen navy for my bridesmaid dresses and thought about doing navy, dark purple and silver. Any suggestions or comments?

Those colors are beautiful. I think the silver makes the ensemble! Using silver in your decor creates a dreamy, wonderland effect. And the combination of navy and purple is unusual, but regal. Go with it! (:

Good Luck!

Hi Crystal,

Congrats and best wishes. Purple is my favorite color and it is said to be the color of royalty so go with it girl. If you need any help finding maids dresses or anything for the wedding email me at thevarietystore1@yahoo.com as I am able to get these items in at low prices.
Have a blessed day.

Oh, you can do so much! (: One of my all time favorite ideas is the silver basket idea for centerpieces. It is so inexpensive, and all of my brides end up getting so many compliments. The trick is to spray paint baskets silver (paint available just about anywhere!) and then fill them with whatever you like. Flowers, candles, etc. You can also sprinkle the tables with metallic silver confetti (available at my store, or any party store anywhere) Candles really shimmer...then you can tie silver, purple, and navy balloons to the basket in the center (Unless you have candles in `em--but you can put candles off to the side) It is sooo inexpensive...but it looks fabulous!

Hi,

The dresses sound beautiful but I feel I should warn you about what flowers to put in your bouquets. Adding purple or dark blue flowers will make it look like there is a hole in any area you put them in. The reason is that light from photography will be absorbed by the colors and not bounce back to the lens.

There is an easy way to check this out. Go to Michaels and gather up a bunch of stems and add a few purples to it. Now stand back and take a snapshot of the whole person ... Not just the bouquet (that will be basically how you will do some of your photos for your bridal book). When you develope the picture you will see a demonstration of what I mean.

I wish it wasn`t the case because I love purple,

I`m getting married on January 24th and the only advice that I got that really made sense and led me down some really neat paths is to STICK TO THE SEASON. Springy or summery colors will look off. I went with a coffee and cream sort of theme with gold accents and ivory roses that are dark redish-brown tipped and pink and red pepper berries. For favors I did bottles of maple syrup in the shape of maple leaves on ivory linens.

What type of center pieces do you want to do? Are you wanting to use flowers, candles or something else as the main part of your center pieces?
As for favors there are lots of different things you can do. Drop me a line and I will send you some pictures of different ideas..:)

I`m actually thinking about candles with confetti around them. I do like the silver basket idea, but how do I put candles in them without them burning? Any other ideas of what to do with candles? I also thought about floating candles in globes with confetti sprinkled around the table. Is that a good or bad idea?

Hello again,,:)
One way to do the candles in the basket is to use different sizes of pillar candles. Another way is to find some votive holders that will fill up the basket and you will not have to worry about getting wax on the basket either. There are many things you can do with candles..:) Just depends on the look you want. You might want to go to one of your local stores and look at the candles they have. Setup different ones and see what you think..:)

Hello and Congratz ShelleyAnn,
Since your guy likes blue and you like the fall colors, why not add a touch of the darker blue in with orange, yellow, red, ect.? How many colors are you wanting to do and what flowers are you leaning towards? A couple of the dk blue iris would work great with other flowers that are the fall colors..:) If you have any questions about flowers or color combos please feel free to email me at angwillard@yahoo.com :)

I will e-mail you and tell you color ideas that I have.

Also-with a black/white color scheme you can always add a touch of red and thats pretty. Not alot of red but touches here and there.

Thanks for the replies.

My daughter is using navy and silver for her wedding scheme. It is simply elegant. To keep from the color scheme being so dark, I made her boquets with white roses and scattered navy roses, silver eucalyptus ,and silver iridescent baby`s breath throughout. It is very pretty together. I also decorated her baskets, ring pillow, centerpieces, etc the same way, using a lot of white to break the dark colors up. I also make a lot of wedding cakes. One was requested using purple and blue. I thought, "OH, how awful!" But guess what? When I was finished with it--it was one of the most beautiful cakes that I did--and I received a lot of compliments. The colors really do work well together. Good luck!

I just got marries and used silver snowflakes to decorate. We sprinkled snowflake confetti on all of the tables, and had snowflakes all over our cake-- it looked so pretty!
Good Luck!
