Why would you want to put parenthases around the name?
Anyway, the correct form is:
Outer envelope:
Mr. And Mrs. Frank Jones
Or
Doctor Emily Jones
And Mr. Frank Jones
(note that option two uses two separate lines)
Inner envelope (if you have one)
Mr. And Mrs. Jones
Or
Doctor Jones
And Mr. Jones
(again the two lines for the second option)
Esq is not used on a social invitation.

You DO NOT put mrs. For the woman if she is a doctor, social invitation or not. Whether female or male, the Dr. Is put first, unless they are both physicians and then it would be The Doctors Frank and Sylvia Smith.

AMEN you do NOT put MRS. For a DOCTOR!! I am an attorney, and it would be totally hokey to put esq. After my name. My best friend is a doctor, and she didn`t change her name. (her husband is a rocket scientist, a.k.a. Also a doctor...) so the invite is just long. I recommend Mr. And Dr. Smith, or if you`re feeling feminist, Dr. And Mr. Depends on whether your guests have a sense of humor.

You CAN put Mrs for a female doctor if she does not use her title in social situations. I`m going to say that I have quite a bit of experience with this one because I`m a doctor and I do use Mrs when writing my name out in non professional situations - and I know other female doctors who do the same. Ttherefore invitations do sometimes arrive like that and they are quite acceptable.
However, I should have mentioned that you should be absolutely sure about the individual woman`s preference on this matter before opting for Mr. And Mrs. If you have any doubt, then of course you should use Dr.
Thanks to those of you who pointed that out.
