Wedding Invitation And Save The Date Card
Will someone please tell me the difference between the wedding invitation and the save the date cards? I am getting married in April. When should I mail out the invitations and how much time should I give people to respond?
Thank you for your help.

I think the "norm" is sending the invites out approx. 2 months before the wedding, with the RSVP date being 1 month before the wedding. Good Luck.

A save the date card is usually sent about 6 months before the wedding if it is going to be on a special day such as a holiday. Because a lot of people plan to go out of town on long weekends and such, save the date cards are sent to notify them of the wedding plans for that weekend. There is no RSVP on save the date cards. Invitations can be sent anywhere from 1-3 months before the wedding. They do have an RSVP. You will want to check with your caterer beforehand to find out how much notice they need for guest number. Hope this helps. Good luck with your wedding

Save the date cards are also good for guests who may need to schedule vacation, plane fare and plan other accommodations to attend your wedding. I am doing this for a house warming I am planning. Because most of my family lives 3,000 miles away, I am planning my house warming a year in advance to try to accommodate their schedules.
