Junior Bridesmaid

I have a younger sister (11) who I would like involved in my wedding party, and I have decided to make her a "junior" bridesmaid. Has anyone else incorporated junior bridesmaids in their wedding? Do they walk down the aisle on their own? I need ideas to help her feel involved.

Hi, Gina --

If your other female attendants are walking down the aisle alone, than your sister should also. But if male & female attendants are walking down in pairs, then either your sister ought to be paired w/ someone, or she might walk in first & alone.

Hello Gina,

Well I had the same problem at first, my daugther which is (9) is going to be my Junior Bridesmaid in my wedding in October 2004. At first I was going to get a Junior Usher to escort her down the aisle but after thinking about it I thought maybe she is to young to pair up with someone.

What I decided to do was let her shine also on my day and walk down the aisle by herself and be the first person to walk down the aisle.

Hopefully this would help you.

Congratulations and best wishes,
Sabrina

I just called them all bridesmaids regardless of their ages. Only the Maid/Matron of Honor has any real responsibility (throwing the shower and taking care of the bride that day). The other attendants support the Maid/Matron of Honor. Even at 11, she can handle it.

So age wasn’t a big deal to us. Everyone had a job (even the 8 year old bridesmaid- passing out bouquets and boutonnières) and every one did her job well.

They were all treated the same walking down the aisle.
