Blotchy Skin--Help!
Hi! I am getting married this August on a beach in Southern California. I am a little worried because whenever I get extremely nervous, my chest and neck get a little blotchy. My dress shows both areas. Does anyone have any advice as to what to do? Is there something I can take or put on my skin to prevent this from happening? Does anyone else have this same problem? Any advice would be great. Thanks! =o)

Hi ...I´ve been taken propranolol since 1 month aprox. (10 mg) whenever i think i´m going to be nervous and blotchy and it was great but now i find that it´s not so effective like before...the red hives are back !!! ...maybe i need to increase the dose but only has passed 1 month since i started taken it !!! don´t you think it is so soon?
Any of you had the same situation?
Thank you all and please reply...

I know how both of you feel. You might check with your doctor about possibly having social anxiety disorder. I`ve read a lot about it and think I have it. It`s very common. More common than most know. Whenever you are put on the spot, red blotches on neck, chest, face, and even arms. I went through that in October for my wedding. Luckily my dress covered most of it on my chest. You have until August so check with your doctor. I`m sure they can give you something.

You might want to look into airbrushed makeup, it covers blotches and other skin problems beautifully. Its only temporary of course, but it will do the trick. It also doesnt smudge off onto your dress.
Good luck!

I too have this problem since I was in high school and it seems to have gotten worse. Every time I get mad or upset or in a hurry I get blotches that start on the side of my face and down my neck. My doctor told me it was a histamine release. I was on allergy meds and that didn`t seem to work. For the last few months I was using flonase and that seemed to stop it however it`s back. I also notice that it happens closer to my period and that week of more so then the rest of the month. I sure hope someone figures this out and we can all take some meds or something to stop it cause it is really stinks.
Good luck at your wedding. I found breathing slowly helps make my blotches go away faster.

I have this problem too, and am a little worried about it. My family advise me to pay closer attention to my diet mostly a week before my wedding (all week). Avoid greesy foods, eat small portions but as often as you need to stay full and don`t touch your face or skin if you can help it on your special day. OH DRINK LOTS OF WATER! No sodas or caffeines as much as possible. It sounds kind of off track but if you look into it, the things you eat or drink affects your pores and skin and causes a "chemical reaction" when put to the test (stress, nerves, moods) my cousin went through the same thing and followed this. SHe also breathed slowly, tried to keep herself calm by preoccupying her mind and staying cool (temp). This seemed to work well for her. Try that? I`ve also seen the diet thing advertised for proms in the stress advice columns. Good luck!
