Hi, here are some simple tips I have seen at these events that I photograph over the years.
1.have your list of guests ready
2.are you going to give away something to remember that event(favors, with photo or something)
3.if you are going to have an outdoor affair you can plan to have it under the tent of around the pool
4.have your guests send old photos with your parents to post on a large board
5. Locate the bridal party and dress them up too.
6.hire a photographer
7. Choose a dj or a band
8.work close with the chef
9.call all local media and invite them to cover the event.
10.don`t forget to have a family portrait taken of all siblings at the event.

My parents 50th! What an awesome day. We asked Mom for the addresses and phone numbers of all of their friends in Florida (where they winter) and near and dear friends here (just in case we needed to contact them in regards to an emergency with them). Then we got a Creative Memories consultant to guide us in the right direction for an anniversary album. My two sisters and two sister in laws and older nieces got together and worked on creating an album from the time that they met until each of us graduated from high school. From that point, each family was allotted 5 pages to put photos of their family up to the present day. Then I asked each of my siblings to give me excerpts of favorite memories which I put into Print Shop and chose a vintage font to print them out on Creative Memories paper, cutting them out with fancy scissors and mounting them on coordinating CM paper. We placed these here and there throughout the book where blank spaces had been. Then we hired a photographer to take photos of the event and family photos (a few are the last ones taken with loved ones who passed on shortly after the party). I wrote love poems (from Mom to Dad and vice versa) and added them to the album Mom and Dad got married at the JP so no wedding cake or reception. The actual wedding cake was gorgeous (it looked like fine needlework all over the frosting/Mom loves needlework) We made pillar candle centerpieces which we created ourselves. We also did all of this as a surprise for our parents. Their wedding anniversary is Dec 24th so we planned this the August before so that weather wouldn`t be a hindrance. We thought that the photo album was really for mom and dad would go along with it. We asked them to open it after all the other gifts. When my parents saw it, Dad`s and Mom`s eyes filled with tears. Throughout the entire party, the older friends of my parents and aunts and uncles regaled us with tales of our parents youth - tales we`d never heard before. The older folks and out of town friends could look at the album and get some history on each of us kids which led to many approaching each of us to chat and get to know each other. We served punch, and picnic food too. My parents took the photos from the party and placed them in the anniversary album, a treasure of their lives together and the fruit of their love and labors. Oh, and we created the invitations and response cards and mini-maps to direct folks to the site on the computer. It was worth every bit of our time to pull this off. We really love our parents and it showed that day for sure.

Congratulations. I don`t think I would buy a wedding gown. There are many places that rent a gown. That might be much more economical.

I specialize in writing THIS IS YOUR LIFE poems for just such an affair. I get information from you about their lives from when they met and I take it from there. You or several people read it to everyone. The guests LOVE hearing funny tidbits about their lives together.

The price depends on the length you want.
