Traditional Wedding Music And Antisemitism

"Linda" in a 10/19/03 message says Wagner and Mendelssohn were both antisemitic. In Wagner`s case this is arguable. Mendelssohn WAS Jewish, and wrote, among other pieces, the exquisite oratorio "Elijah," based on the life of the Jewish prophet. Let`s deploy accusations of antisemitism with forebearance and discretion, Linda.

I`m sorry. Let me restate that properly. Wagner was antisemitic and Mendelssohn gave up Judaism when he converted to Protestantism.
