Wedding On Very Small Budget
I am having a spring wedding and we are on a very VERY tight budget. We have already found the place to have the wedding and reception, its only $250. My friend is a photographer so she will be doing our pictures. My other friend and I will be making my dress and my MOH`s dress. I really want this to be a wonderful and memoriable day but without putting us in debt. We are both college students that live on our own. My budget originally started out at about $1000, but as I kept reading I saw that people who were on a tight budget were still spending $5000 or more. Is it impossible to have a wedding for under $1500? If so PLEASE tell me how. I want to be thrifty not tacky! I also had an idea of having a pot luck dinner for the reception. Give me all of your ideas. Thank you!!

It can be done, you just have to be willing to do alot of it yourself! Me and my FH are both college students as well, we are having my wedding for $2000 (which is coming out to be around $3000) and I am doing everthing I ever dreamed of! GO to ebay for a lot of things, that is how I keep cutting costs! I have never been to a potluck wedding, but I imagine it will work! GOod Luck! Feel free to email me if you need more help! Jennifer,
It is not at all tacky to have a potluck reception. Especially at a smaller wedding friends and family are always willing to help out to make your day special. I`ve attended a few weddings that have been handled this way. They were lovely, and the atmosphere was so personal and loving. I had a wonderful time.
Your reception is your own personal celebration!

Well as a wedding planner in the caribbean (St lucia) that budget for a wedding would be great as long as the group isn`t too big. Just try you best to see where you can cut on cost. The number of guest you invite would affect your budget as well. Also if you can up with a menu for dinner where the menu items won’t be to expensive to get would also be wonderful. If you plan on doing guests favors make them yourself (there are plenty diy guest favors online). You could even try the option of eloping.
