Help!!!
I need help with the centerpeices for my wedding. My florist and I are having a difference of opinions so I have decided to do something other than flowers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Our wedding is Oct. 2004, but no fall theme. Thanks!

Cari,
This is one of my favorite centerpiece ideas. It can be tailored to fit your color scheme and theme, and it showcases your love and your lives...
Place different sizes of framed photographs in the center of the table. Make a `circle` and put anything you like in the center. (I`ve used tall candles, vases with single stemmed roses, etc.)
Choose the frames according to your budget, and how you want it to look. You can get them at discount stores at a good price... You can do all silver, silver and gold, colorful...whatever fits your style.
Go through your photos. Find those that showcase your personalities. I love to include childhood and baby photos of the couple, also. It gives guests some wonderful insight into the couple`s lives. Gather photos of you two together, with your families, and alone through all the stages of your lives and relationships.
This makes for a very inexpensive and meaningful centerpiece.
A complimentary idea would be to have framed photos of you as a couple to give away as favors. Purchase small frames in bulk, and have a photo mart print up your pics. This can be done very inexpensively!

One idea I have seen was to have a small table sized cake in the middle of each table-the bride & groom cut the "real" wedding cake, sized down of course, as each table is served from their own cake. The mini-cakes are like the real one only smaller and a little less ornate. Another idea is glass bowls of floating candles. The candles can be colored and shaped to the theme of the wedding. Or a large pillar candle and some decorative items with it-that carry the wedding theme. What about glass cylinders with color coordinated pebbles or glass marbles and white goldfish swimming in them. Hey it is your day-have fun with it and think outside of the box--we are planning my daughter`s wedding in Oct 2004 and it is very formal but there will be some personal unusual things too. This makes it more fun and special to you.

Hello,
I am sorry to hear that your florist is not wanting to give you what you are wanting for a center piece. Have you thought about changing florist? If you really want a certain style of center piece why settle for something else? Btw what are your colors and or theme? If I can be of any help please feel free to email me at angwillard@yahoo.com

I would like to change florists, but my fiancee`s mother likes her and she is paying for her. The first centerpeices I wanted were topiaries, but she said that the cost for the flowers would be $3,000, which is much more than we want to spend. So when I told her our budget was $1,200 for flowers she told me that for that price I would have to have carnations, or no centerpeices, which is insane! My bridesmaids dresses are navy, I have not decided on another color, maybe a ligher blue or a gold. The chairs at our hall are gold.

Ouch...
What does the topiaries look like? How many where you going to have? What flowers were going to be used in the topiraries? How much is she charging you for your bouquet and brides maids?
That much difference seems really high. But then again I know it depends on what you have your topiraries to look like. Send me a picture of them to angwillard@yahoo.com. I also have a couple of pictures of topiraries if they need to be scaled down some. Also with seeing your colors and flowers for your bouquets I can suggest more ideas for your center pieces..:)
Take a deep breath..and smile..:)

Ang,
The topiaries were going to be made with silk flowers. I`m not certain what types of flowers she was going to use. Everytime that I talk to her she acts like it`s either roses or carnations, nothing in between. Which does not make sense, and when I ask her about this she doesn`t seem to have an answer. For my bouquet I am having white roses in a tight hand-tied round bouquet, probably about 2 dozen roses or so, she wants to put 4 dozen in it and it would cost $250. I am a small person so 4 dozen roses would take me over. I would love to email you pictures, but I can`t. I am using the internet at work, and I don`t have email and our computer at home has not worked for months. By the way do you live in indiana? I think I may have talked to you before about trolleys? Anyways, I`m just not sure what to use for the centerpieces and changing florists is not an option, as this is who she wants to go with (she is not one of those crazy mother-in-laws, she just knows her).

Hhhmmm,
I totally agree with you about the 4 dozen roses being too much. In a hand tied bouquet it will also be heavy. The most I have done for a bride`s handtied bouquet was 3 dozen roses with some spray roses. It was a very nice bouquet, however the bride was not tiny. But I would not go more than that for a smaller sized person. Also what type of roses are these? $250 seems really high for a hand tied bouquet even if there is 4 dozen roses in it. That is 48 roses and if you break that down that is a little over $5 a rose.. :(
How many topiraries were you going to have done? Also how big were they going to be? Let me have your email so I can send you a couple of topirary picture that I have and see if they were anything like what she was going to do for you. Or you can email me at angwillard@yahoo.com..:)
Yes, I live in Indiana. I live about an hour south of Indianapolis, near Columbus.

Ang,
The roses in my bouquet are to my knowledge normal white roses, are there different kinds? We needed 20 topiaries. As for the size I`m not sure, I wanted them to be larger and to be a least 2-2 1/2 feet off the tables. She was going to charge us $75 for each one. I`m sorry I can`t email you and I don`t have email myself. I`m using the computer at work and our computer at home has not worked for months.

I have some really lovely silk topiaries that are 16" tall, along with a selection of matching flowers such as candle rings, floral sprays, floral swags, floral balls, potted flowers, and boquets that include a tussie mussie. I even have flower girl baskets, ring pillows, and accessories to match. The topiaries sell for 35.90 each. For large orders, I offer a 10-20% discount. These are available in antique white roses, or petal pink roses. The boquets are 13", and are 30.00. They are really beautiful, and a great alternative to fresh flowers. Anyone interested can visit our online Bridal Store for a quote. I can also email photos to anyone interested

Hello again,
Yes, there are different white roses. There are ones that are pure white to off white or a more creamer white. I wish you had email so I could send you the pictures. As for the topiraries, I am imagen they are not going to be what you think they will be if you get them from her. Because she is charging you a fortune for your bouquet. How many girls bouquets, bouts and corsages are you going to have?
If you would like I can give you my phone number and I can talk to you in person. Because this is your day, and I really would like to help give you that day. So here is my number (812) 371-8274. And if you are worried about the long distance cost, I can call you back..:)
Looking forward to talking to you more,
Ang

Ang-
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, very busy! I got your pictures in the mail and I have come to the realization that the topiaries are just not going to happen. I liked the rose topiary pic you sent me, but I want one much, much larger than that one, and my guess is that they will be very expensive. Thanks so much for you time, and if you have any more thoughts, thanks in advance.

I just listened to your voicemail. I am at work now, that is why I am not calling you back now. Just a little info until I talk to you, the size that I want is at least 10 inches around and more of a round look, some stuff can be jutting out, but mostly round. As for height, I would say about 2-2 1/2 feet tall. What is you thought on cost for these?
