Slide Presentation
I was wondering if anyone has done or considering a slide show during their wedding or reception. If so what song did you do and when exactly in the festivites did you play it?

I was recently at a wedding where they did a slide presentation and to be honest, it didn`t go over well. I don`t recall the exact songs that they played, but people got bored and got up and left during it (and it wasn`t even that long).
They are pretty simple to put together if you know how to work the program and can do the timing for the songs - but personally I don`t care for them and neither did the vast majority of the guests at the weddings I`ve attended.

Hello,
I had a different experience with a wedding I went to that had a slide show. A friend of theirs did theirs and is was great. People were laughing, ahhing, ect at the right times. They had the DJ play clips of 5 or 6 different songs that went along with the day. I really liked it and enjoyed the whole thing.
So I guess it depends on how it is put together. =)
Congratz and have a great day..

Most of the weddings that I have been to the slide show is shown while the bride and groom are getting their pictures taken together after the ceremony (during cocktail hour) or even I have seen it ran while people is eating. It is used as an option for people to look at during down time. Not used as a major point of entertainment. The slides have came out very well.

I am a photographer and my fiance a cinematographer and I/we agree that slide shows can be...what`s the word I`m looking for....LAME. Slide shows featuring photographs and video should be done by people that know how to EDIT! Also, remember this: just because you think it will be memorable doesn`t mean your guests will be overjoyed. Who really cares what you looked like as a child anyway? So if you decide to do one, its best to keep it SHORT...like 5 or 6 minutes and no longer. And be CREATIVE. One wedding I recently attended was played while the bride and groom danced with special people. For example, while the groom danced with his mom, a montage of the two of them, mixed with old 16mmm video footage and current photographs played in the background. It was well done. Also, unless you are an artist or work in video or photography, of some sort, check into hiring your local university film school...students are typically more creative and eager to cut a short film. With that said, we`re thinking of shooting a short 4-minute silent film for the reception. If it turns out well, we`ll show it at the rehearsal dinner. If it`s great, it`ll be at the reception. Oy.
