Full On Anxiety
Hi there!
I am getting married in July 2004 and I would like it to be outdoors somewhere in Halifax. I have no idea where to start. Should I rent a tent? Where can I and how much does it cost? Any and all information would be great. We aren`t looking to spend a lot of money. Thanks so much. Hey maybe you could just plan my wedding for me!!!

Do you mean Halifax, Nova Scotia?
If so, MacFarlands on Kempt Road rents things like tents, but I think they`re rather costly. They have a website, just put a .com after the name.
If you`re going to be outside, you probably should have a tent just in case the weather doesn`t cooperate. I`m not sure of where you could do it outside though - so many outdoor venues (such as Point Pleasant Park) were seriously damaged by the hurricane in September, and thus are closed. The Dingle might be an option. I hadn`t heard anything about that park being closed.
Church weddings here aren`t really cheap either. I got married in the United Church, and the fee for regular members of the congregation was $350. If you are not a regular member of the congregation, it`s over $500. Add on $100 for a marriage license too.
I don`t know how much it would cost to have the reception in an outdoor venue, I guess that would depend on who provides the food.
If you end up going the route of a hotel reception, prepare to spend a minimum of $25 per person, plus 15% tax, plus 15% gratuity on top of it all. The Royal Canadian Legion where we had our reception, they charged $13 per person including the tax, and it was terrific.
Good luck!

If you are struggling with the first steps of your wedding (which many brides do) perhaps you should consult an event coordinator. Wedding coordinators are not as expensive as you may think and can help find you `deals` as they are experts in the area of planning. Their job is to take your budget and give you the wedding that you want on the money.

Hello,
Congratz ;) Now take a deep breath..:) It might help to get a note pad and start writing things down. For example write down 4 or 5 places you might like to have you wedding ceremony held at. Then do the same for the reception. If you are not sure what colors or theme you would like to go with write different ones down that come to your mind.
Take a deep breath again and smile..:) If I can be of any help, please feel free to email me at angwillard@yahoo.com. Congratz again and have a great day.
