Butterfly Wedding Theme

I am having an outdoor wedding on a farm and butterflies have become my theme. If anyone has any suggestion on wedding dress ideas or decorating, please let me know. It will be a casual wedding in September.

I too, am looking for butterfly cakes and anything with butterflies. I found great butterfly soaps on ebay for favors. Does anyone have butterfly cake pics? Thanks!

There is a company out of Kansas that sells real butterflys. They "grow" them on a farm. It is kind of expensive ( between $50-$90 for 12). But if you have the $$ it is definatly well worth it! I wanted to do it for my wedding but relized it was way too much $. They come in a small triangle which you keep in a cooler until you are ready, then each person opens their triangle and the butterflys are released. (use instead of the traditional rice or bubbles) If you are on a tight budget just get 12 and give them to your bridal party, parents and grandparents, and have the rest of the people toss flower peddles. It is so beautiful!!

I posted this earlier, but check e-bay. They have a butterfly tiara that`s pretty since you`re doing that theme.

Everyone considering this: please think carefully. I was at a mountain wedding where the butterflies were not indigenous. They couldn`t take the altitude and flopped around on the ground before dying. Even if it`s not altitude, are you letting a breed go that can survive in that area/climate? Sorry if I put a downer out there, but why have an event at your wedding that involves senseless harming of insects if you don`t have to. If they WILL survive in the area, then by all means, let the little buggers go. Or... Just have your flower girls wear butterfly wings. ;)

I am a wedding planner in Chicago and have done quite a few weddings. I urge you not to do a butterfly release. They are quite morbid... The butterfles rarely live after the release and your guest are walking over dying butterflies for the rest of the evening.
