Best Buy Bridal is NOT a authorized retailer for Maggie Sottero. Check on Maggie Sottero website for authorized retailers and also check out their letter regarding buying their gowns over the internet

I wrote Barbara an e-mail inquiring about whether Best Buy Bridal (BBB) is an authorized retailer for Maggie Sottero and she stated that BBB is the Internet end of her store in Pennsylvania. She is very helpful and is very good about communication. I`m expecting my dress this month!

Jayleen, if going with barbara she`s fantastic and you will receive a certificate with your dress. I sell gowns also in the UK and only supply to UK brides now and I also supply a certificate with all my maggie gowns.

I checked with Maggie Sottero and they all but told me if you buy any Maggie gown from any retailer not listed on their website, they can not or willnot guarentee the ggown is a real Maggie. As far as Best Buy, They said they are not authorized to sell their Maggie Gowns under thetname and that are investaging this company becasue of so many complaints.

Katie, did you call Maggie Sottero or did you send an e-mail? I looked all over their site for a phone number so that I can call and ask them questions but I can`t seem to find it. If you have the number to call can you please give it to me? Thanks.

Not all maggie Sottero retailers are listed on the internet. It is strictly optional if a store elects to be listed. I am an authorized retailer and am NOT listed on the website.

It is an outright lie that it is optional to be listed on Maggie Sottero`s website. What store in their right mind would not want as much free advertising as they could get? Everyone wants Maggie Sottero and it`s to a REAL store`s advantage to be listed as an authorized retailer

I was thinking about purchasing maggie sottero`s "celine" dress in a petite size 10 in white from best buy bridal. They are offering it for 585 plus 60 for the purse and stole... Fora total of 645. Is it safe to purchase through best buy bridal? please email me at good_for_sule@hotmail.com I will not be checking back at this message board!

Laura,
This is not a good deal!! The purse and stole are included with the gown and are not sold separetely, so that are charging you an extra $60 for two things that come with the gown. ALso the price they quoted you is too good to be true. This price is what the gown costs so why would these people sell you a brnad new gown at cost?? Maybe it`s not a true Maggie gown but a copy that cost much less!! Call Maggie Sottero to check these people out before giving them your order!!!

I purchased my gown (Maggie Sottero Veronica) from Best Buy Bridal for $625. Barbara did not sell me the stole and purse separate from the dress as these came with my dress. I received my dress about a month late but it was a brand new Maggie Sottero Veronica gown and it came with a certificate of authenticity.
Barbara runs a brick and mortar store in Pennsylvania with her mother and she operates an online service as an extra service. I think the reason why she doesn`t charge as much is because it costs less to sell someone a dress online as opposed to having them come into the store. In any case, I didn`t have any problems purchasing my gown from them. I saved $400 so I can`t complain!

WOW Mimi you really hit the jackpot!!
But what I do not understand why would any "real & authorized bridal shop" only want to make $125.00 on a sale"????
That`s right, the cost of this gown is $500.00!! No business in their right mind wants to make 25% profit on an item them pay for rent, insurance, taxes, ect which now makes their profit margin at about, hmmmm lets say about 10-12% which know means she only makes a profit of about $62.50?? Does this make sense??? Anybody can make a certificate on their home computer. Do have anthing from Maggie Sottero to compare your certificate too? Did you know that each certificate is number??
Maybe you did get a real Maggie dress and if you did -
CONGRATS!! because in fact you did save a ton of money for a gown from one of the hottest desginers the industry. But if not, then you paid for a very good copy - and their are many designers who have made their copies so good that even Maggie Sottero cant tell the difference and you paid too much. I hope you got a real Maggie for your sake!!

I thought that i might make this point... About the 60 some dollar profit.... A $60 profit is better than no profit. Perhaps Best Buy believes in not profiting greatly from internet sales, but rather keeping the sales business to themselves rather than allowing business to go to another retailer. Perhaps they see it as... I could possibly not have a sale or I can offer maggie dresses extreemly cheap and make something.. It is better than nothing. And the possitive about internet is that you do not have to pay rent to host a webpage.
These are just thoughts though... I could be completely wrong... I have decided not to purchase from Best Buy because of such contraversy.. There are however other retailers that will match best buy`s price!

Well, Nancy, maybe its something that you don`t need to understand. You may choose to make a 100% profit off each gown you sell (I`m not sure if you`re a vendor) but others may choose to profit less. Because I bought the gown off their internet site, it didn`t cost them anything, really, to sell me the dress. Walmart makes pennies off each item that they sell in their stores but because they sell so much each year, the profits start to add up. Maybe Barbara sells a lot of gowns each year and she`s comfortable with her $62.50 profit margin.
Also, how are you so sure that Barbara pays $500 for the dress? You assume that all vendors pay the same price for each dress. Maybe Barbara purchases enough gowns each year that Maggie Sottero offers her all the gowns at a lower rate. Do you know for a fact that Maggie Sottero offers every vendor the same rate? Did Maggie Sottero disclose that information to you? Could it not be possible that Barbara has more buying power than you, and therefore, pays less for each dress?
And to answer your question, no. I do not have anything to compare my certificate to. But, yes, my certificate does have a number and a Maggie Sottero seal. My dress also has a Maggie Sottero tag sewn into it. And if it does turn out that its a fake, which I highly doubt, and no one can tell that it is, then why do I care? Just some thoughts.

First of all Mimi, again good for you for getting the gown of your dreams at such a great price!
The point I was trying to make was for the other bride. This site was lying by selling her the purse and stole seperately when they come with the gown at no additional price. To me that is the big flag!! If the are willing to lye about this, who knows what else they are willing to lye about.
As far as the cost of the gown, I do know more about Maggie than you. Maggie Sottero doesnt charge different prices for different stores. At times they will have a sale on overstock gowns where shops can save anywhere from $50 to $200 on gown. If she was able to purchase gowns during this sale, then good for her! But again to make such little profit on a gown - either selling in a store or on the internet does not make sense. This is why many many many brides to be are caught in this problem of store who also sell on the internet as such low prices it can not afford to pay it`s bills which affects the ability to receive the gowns for their customers. No matter whre you have a business, it stioll cost money to operate.
We have help dozens of brides just this year with such gown sales through intersale stores who did not come through with the gown for the brides.
As far as label, and certificates, again any one can make label or these certificates and add them to there gowns. I not saying that BB has done this but the only true way for for to know if you in fact purchased a Maggie Sotero gown is to contact Maggie SOttero directly and they will tell you if in fact this site and or store sold you a Maggie Gown. But if you don;t care if it is then this message is a waist of time and I wish you the best.
But for the brides who do care on how they spend their money. Check out the sites with the deisger websites or contact them directly so this way you will know if you you are getting what you are paying for.

Well the time has passed and i decided not to use best buy bridal in the end as i wasn`t comfortable purchasing without being able to speak to some one and checking more into thier reputation
I did however end up buying online from DC bridal in USA
Search maggie, Clarice and DC bridal/Formal to find them they were extremley helpful and though not the cheapest were always on hand to offer advice and suffer my phone calls and questions about the dress they offered a great cash and carry price
Although my dress was late(MAggies fault not thiers)
I still managed to get it on time thanks to thier hard work and persistant phone calls to the maggie wharehouse this could have happened if i purchased it in a shop anyway ( i purchased it in NOV for a april wedding) they even managed to ship it to Australia rather than the UK as orginally planned without extra cost as thats where i got married .
Thanks DC Bridal
If anyone is interested i`m now selling the dress which is a size 20 Clarice in diamond white it has been cleaned and is as good as new.
Maggies are made in Australia for an Australian Company but its still cheaper to import them from the ~USA and pay import taxes????"£"%£$^%$ how does that figure???

I just have to throw in my two cents. I looked into best buy bridal. The run an online store under the name of best buy bridal and they have two actual stores (brick and mortar as one person put it) in Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia region. They do all of their purchasing under one store name and I did check, that store does appear on the Maggie Sottero website, It is Betty`s Wedding Designs in Clifton Heights, PA, but the Betty`s store, the other store, and best buy bridal are all one group. Also, I looked them up on the Better Business Bureau website and they had a good report. So, while I myself haven`t ordered from them, I have considered it and did the research to make sure they are legit and it appears that they are. Hope that clears everything up to some degree.
