Chenery House

Has anyone been married there? Am considering it but want some feedback.

Hi, did you ever get any feedback on your question? Did you get married at the Chenery House? I`ve looked at the place and like what I see. But I`d love to hear some real life opinions.

No feedback. Not married yet. Does look nice from the web site and might go look at it this weekend.

Thanks for your reply, Michelle. I saw it and it`s over the top and ecclectic -- just my style. When you go, pay attention to the Indian Wedding Tree! Too bad the weather has been so bad, or I`d want the wedding outside in the garden....

I just had my wedding and reception at Chenery House. It`s 47 Cnery Street, off of 3th and Dolores. The mansion is behind a security gate in the midst of some well worn apartments. Buzz the intercom and someone will come out to greet you and take you thru the gardens and into the house. We had a fabulous time. The owner Mr. Pritikin and his staff were attentive and gracious. My guests had a lot of fun exploring the numerous rooms and historic artifacts and art pieces. We may go back there to have a party in a few more months. Have fun and good luck! - Patricia

THANK YOU FOR THAT INFORMATION . YOU MENTIONED THAT YOU HAD YOUR RECEPION THERE. WAS IT EVERYTHING THAT HE PROMISED. IE: OPEN BAR, SET TABLES, SIT DOWN DINNER WITH WAITERS, VALET SERVICE, FLOWERS AND THE WHOLE SHEBANG. THE OWNER INFORMED ME THAT ALL I HAVE TO DO IS SHOW UP W/ MY OWN PHOTOGRAPHER IS ALL THIS TRUE. BRCAUSE HIS PRICING IS UNBELIEVEABLE AND ALMOST TO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

Yes -- it`s turnkey. But you need to talk to Bob et al to let them know what you want and what your expectations are. I met with John [the chef] to determine the menu and everyone thought the food was delicious. I told Bob what I wanted for flower settings and they looked great. I`ll admit I was underwhelmed with the bridal bouquet.. But other than that -- my husband and I recommend them highly.

Hi Danielle, You`ll have a lot of fun meeting Bob -- he`s been a stage magician, owned the Mansions Hotel (half of which was haunted), produced plays (maybe musicals), etc. He and his staff are very gracious and service oriented -- just think through what you want, and mentally draw up some bullet points of what you want advice on. I see a typo in my earlier mssg - it`s 47 CHENERY St. Off of 30th and Dolores a bit further than Dolores Park. Good luck!

Very interesting. Glad you liked it. It really does sound too good to be true. There are no pictures of the dining room on the website.....what did that room look like?
It seems like there are plenty of rooms to explore.
Did you find any other reviews online? i can`t seem to find any outside information.
We`re not sure of our date yet, but don`t worry, it won`t be early october!
Thanks,
Erin

OK. HERE IT GOES
THE DINING AREA SEATS 100 BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL ONLY SEAT 50 WITHOUT SOMEONE PASSING OUT FROM CLOSTRPHOBIA, AFTER YOU EAT THE ROOM CONVERTS TO A DISCO /CARROKE RM. THAT WAS THE ONLY THING THAT I DID NOT LIKE, IT`S NOT WHAT YOU IMAGINE (A GRAND BALLROOM)
IT`S VERY BASIC BUT DEFINATELY DIFFERENT,LOTS OF SCULPTURES AND ART IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE A MUSEUM NOT A MANSION. BUT VERY CLASSY

Good info. Thanks for that. Yeah, i wasn`t too sure about the disco also. We are having 100 people, so it seems like it might be crowded. I`ll have to check it out this week. I`ll be in touch after i see the place.
Thanks again.

Hi there,
Anybody who had their wedding at Chenery House: I would love to talk to you. I`m in the final stages on signing the contract to have my wedding there, and I really would love some feedback. It really does sound too good to be true. There HAS to be a catch...
Can we chat??

The Chenery House sounds like such a unique location for SF. What`s the price range? Thanks!

Erica - it winds up being, with tax and gratuity, about 22k total. That includes: full/open bar, after hours partying, the ceremony, cake, food, music, flowers. Everything except for the photographer. They will host up to 200 people.

I`m confused because over the phone he quoted me $10K.

You were probably quoted based on how many people and what kind of bells and whistles you said you wanted . The dining room is the Houdini Room -- a fun place. My wedding /reception guests loved the place. If you want to know more about actual events, just ask Bob for references. When you pick your photographer and videographer be sure to talk to them at length about what you`re looking for. Having the ceremony at the top of the stairs is very dramatic, but may make for awkward camera angles for live/candid shots. But it`s perfect for posed shots. Good luck!
