Deprovera

I am 44 years old and my periods are constant at this point I have been bleeding non-stop for 1 month (even on birth control pills) I spoke to my Dr. And he recommended the deprovera until at least March when I will have the uterus burned and a DNC. My daughter has strongly advised me against the deprovera. Now I am having second thoughts about the shot, based on all I have read. Besides the partial hysterectomy I don`t have very many options, that I know off. Or are there more options? I need advice so that when I go see my doctor I can have something to say to him, besides "ok Dr. Whatever you recommend".
