If you belong to a local church have the ceremony and reception there if possible. This may mean that you will not be able to have more than 100 people as fellowship halls tend to be not very big. I would recomend finding a dj for some entertainment, but if possible have a pot luck buffet, or hire the church kitchen. For the ceremony music use a wedding cd and cd player, and have friends/relatives sing or read. Ask family and friends to take a roll of pictures for you as part of your gift, than have a pro do a limited number of professional shots to go with all the candids. As for flowers I would use silk to make your own or rent. If you can buy a tray and plant flower seeds to grow in your basement under a light, than buy containers from the dollaer store to plant them in for centerpieces. Good luck on your wedding!!

She`s right on with the church idea. Having a wedding planner will cost you too much...that`s not a good idea. Backyard weddings are great, too...not sure about Texas but in the Northeast we always have to rent a tent...just in case...then you can have pot luck, or cook for a couple of days. If you have a close knit family that could be easy. Ask a family friend that you know can take ok photos to do it for a small fee...maybe $100 or $200...have a JP... Engine searches are helpful. Keywords could be "planning wedding on small budget" and you`ll be amazed at the helpful tips. Do your own flowers...so many ideas, just sit with everyone with a pad and brainstorm.
Good luck.
Good luck.

There are SO many things you can cut costs on. CD favors – create a personalized wedding CD for your guests to take home. This is a great favor idea. Its not little sweets wrapped in pretty lace that you spend a fortune on, just to have them eaten and the wrapper thrown away! This is something that the guests will treasure forever! You can go to your local office depot or order the CD’s online. The one I found is the Office Depot CD-R Spindle, 700MB/80 minutes, pack of 100. If you plan ahead of time you can get it at a great price. At the moment the price is $37.87. The normal price is $59.18, which is still good. But this is for 100 CD’s. If you are having a smaller guest list, then of course you can get a smaller package. And if you find them at a better price at your local stores then good for you!! It’s all about saving money!
Photo Thank You cards- if you or someone you know has a digital camera, take a digital picture of you and your sweetie and make thank you cards out of them! is a great site to shop on. you can create cards for 39 cents apiece. The set comes with 20 cards and envelopes. So if you have 100 guests your total will be $39.00!! (Plus shipping and handling) If you know someone that has everything you need to create the cards yourself, then all you really need to get is good quality photo paper. You can go to your local office supply/computer store or shop at Office Depot. If you have the time and patience to do this then great! You will save on the shipping and handling costs. If not, I would suggest using something like You can also do your invitations this way if you want to. If there is nothing on ...then surf the web to see if another site has templates you like.
Friendship scrapbooks- A great personalized and affordable gift for the bridesmaids are scrapbooks! You do not necessarily have to order the expensive scrapbooks and décor from the multi billion-dollar scrapbook companies. Instead, go to your local stores, Wal-Mart or any other store that might have these materials. By doing this you have cut the cost in half or more! If you do not have a lot of pictures of your friends that will be in your bridal party, then this will be a good time to purchase some rolls of film or borrow a digital camera from a friend. Take pictures of your outings with them, when you are looking for the dresses, going to lunches, your bridal shower or just hanging out at the house. After you have the pictures you want you can start your scrapbooks. You will need, of course, the books, some creative materials of your choice, glue, markers and scissors. You can also go to your local Dollar Tree/General/Store and get most of the supplies needed. Be creative and also look online for great ideas. You can print friendship poems and cut them out or anything that has significant meaning to your relationship. You don’t have an Internet connection at home? Then you can go to your library and sign up to use their computer. While your there you can check out some books on ideas for scrap booking! The options are limitless. You can go to sites like to get some ideas or go to www.google.com and put in keywords “scrapbook ideas” or “friendship poems”. You can find anything on the Internet. And just to let you know, you do not have to fill the whole book. Just start it and they can keep adding. It’s a great way for all of you to have weekend or monthly gatherings to get together and have a glass of wine, chat and add more great memories to your books! There are so many great ideas ..just surf the web! Good Luck!!

Shop thrift stores (goodwill, salvation army etc.) for UNIQUE CRYSTAL vases (mine have all been under $2 !) then I will add differnt flower type acccording to vase "personality" but all will be the wedding color (ie: purple). Sam`s has great variety and prices. Friends can take home also.

Go to Michael`s Craft store also. Many great ideal. Check ebay - we found our bridesmaids dresses very reasonable - less than half what David`s Bridal wanted for the same dress. You can also find your dress if don`t have it yet. You can also go to places like TJ Maxx and Marshells - I found beautiful silk flower arrangements for the tables. I know lots of people don`t like slik flowers - but when you are on a tight budget they are beautiful. Good luck.
