DO NOT REGISTER AT TARGET!

I have to post my disappointment in Target. First off, we did them a favor by registering with them and we get screwed over??? Not a good thing.

We received 2 items that were broken from our Target registry. Ofcourse there were no gift receipts with those gifts. We figure since we don`t want money back, we want to exchange for the same item or get a store credit, they should have no problem... Well we were wrong....

We told them what we would like to do, and one of the managers throws us attitude about how their policy changed TODAY and that there was absolutely nothing they could do for us. We were livid... They were damaged goods and we expressed our unhappiness with their NEW policy and demanded that we talk to the store manager.... Who after another headache was able to take one of the items back, but couldn`t take the other back because it was over $10. So now we are stuck with a lamp that has a manufacturer defect sitting in a box in our garage. Total crap!

I don`t understand Target, you would think that they would want to keep customers happy, especially ones who brought them so much business. They probably don`t realize that there are plenty of stores out there that care about keeping satisfied customers.

So, to sum it up....
AVOID THE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HEADACHE AND DO NOT REGISTER AT TARGET!!!

Hello,

My name is Andrew, while searching the Internet for anti-Wal-mart websites, I came across yours and was intrigued by the amount of stupidity Wal-Mart employees offer. Krys Page for instance from the Rockland Wal-mart. I want to get straight to the point here, I am the CEO of Rage Wear Inc., we are not just anti Wal-Mart but anti big box companies. We want to see small business thrive again. I was wondering if you could offer any advice on how to destroy Wal-mart, Target, JCPenney and other big box companies? That right now is my goal, to put Wal-mart out of business so we can end America`s obsession with being cheap skates. Wal-mart has become too big, I think we both can agree on that, but what do we do about it, what can we do about it? I am a person who will not give up, I will stand my ground behind my beliefs and nobody is going to tell me any differently. I would be a perfect employee for your company If I weren`t self employed, I wouldn`t take any shit from people and my vulgarity laced replies to hate mail would be great. I have always been a stone wall when it comes to protesters and people who oppose me. I do believe people have the freedom of speech and they can say and do whatever they want, however it`s my choice to listen and also to say and do whatever I want. I think your E-zine and my company could make a great partnership. This is the way I see it, shopping at Wal-mart is like smoking cigarettes, 9 out 10 people want to quit, but can`t. Wal-Mart is addictive, absurdly gigantic and the Fort Knox of the retail industry. I think once we can take out Wal-mart, the rest will fall and small business can thrive again. If you are at all interested in learning more about my plans, my company, my products or me personally, I invite you to respond to this e-mail.

Regards,
Andrew D. Dziedzic

Coco, try and contact the manufacturer. They should be able to assist you in getting refunded or an exchange through them.

Andrew-
First of all, Coco was just expressing her dissatisfaction with registering at Target at trying to give other brides a heads up.
Personally, I love to shop and Wal-Mart and other stores--they have everything I need at good prices. I agree that small business has suffered because of this, but good luck putting Wal-Mart out of business! They are the number one retail store and I disagree that 9 out of 10 people want to stop shopping there. The consumer needs his/her needs to be met, which is exactly what stores like Wal-Mart do. Just wanted to let you know that there are people are there who support Wal-Mart. How do you think it has grown so big?
Good luck to you in your endeauvors. Please don`t take this as a personal attack, but rather a different opinion.

P.S. What does vulgarity have to do with anything?

Ive been very dissappointed with Target`s return/exchange policies. They change so often and they usually end up screwing the customer. I decided not to even shop there anymore let alone register there. I`m sorry for the headaches they put you through.

Andrew,

I am with you. I know you and I can`t put WalMart or Target out of business ourselves. But I wholeheartedly try to support my local stores as much as I can. I am disheartened at the corporateness of today`s society. Hopefully someday people will feel the same way we do and start to "rebel." I recently saw a wonderful local coffeehouse go belly-up because of Starbucks. I remember our local pharmacy as children and our local video store, and even our local grocer, none of whom exist anymore because of Walgreens/CVS, Blockbuster and corporate grocery mega-stores taking over. Banks are horribly corporate as well. Yes, there are great deals at the corporate places, and Starbucks coffee tastes great. But I fully believe in supporting your "Mom and Pop" organizations. Places where employess have a name, not just an employee I.D. People who give back to the local community. People who bother with wonderful customer service and people who remember your name. I`ve even NOT used my college degree in Broadcasting because of the media conglomerates that exist nowadays. I am as guilty as others for shopping at corporate places when I don`t have a choice, but, when I can, I shop/buy/drink locally, because I want to support us "little guys." Best of luck to you. I hope and think that someday, hopefully in our lifetime, that we will see a re-birth of the "Mom and Pops."

I am so glad that I received so many responses to my original posting and so I will respond to all of them in this reply. RageWearInc.com debuts Jan 1st 2004, soon after that, America will bear witness to the Small Business Alliance againt Big Box Companies (SBABC) It is true that I can`t do it alone, but with the assistance of all small business owners who oppose big box companies, I know we can cripple big box companies all together. To Tina, please accept my Congratulations on getting married, I do however apologize that your items came from a big box company and not your own community small business. Surely you would not have a problem returning broken merchandise if you were dealing with someone who actually cared. To the person who thought vulgarity was not required, understand this. We live in a generation that does not care what the older generation thinks, I am merely a 20 year old business owner so please forgive me If I seem reckless, but I figure the reckless ones are always the ones who do the most damage, that is what I am trying to do to big box companies. Your right a lot of people do support Walmart and others, but several do not and just like a Christian tries to convert people in this country, I will convert America`s way of thinking through convincing argument rather than forceable opinion. Message boards serve as an outstanding offer for us to state our opinions, I will do so freely as long as I am granted that right. I will not waiver, I will not fail for those who fail are the ones who quit when they`re backs are to the wall, the odds are stacked against them and when everyone else tells them they couldn`t. I do not understand the meaning of the word "Personal Attack" because I listen to no one, you have a right to your opinion, I have a responsibility to my company not to listen to that opinion, the only opinions that matter most to me are those opinions within my own company and circle. The Small Business Alliance will join together for the benefit of small business and the destruction of big box corporations, I thank all who have wished me good luck, and since I`m not over confident, egotistical or conceited, I can admit that I`ll need it.

I completely agree. It seems that he is trying to be a corporation, calling himself a CEO. He has a lot to learn!

Andrew I am a small business owner. Something you need to learn is to respect the success of large corporations. Wal-mart employs millions of people and with today`s economy it is nice to know that there is a place where people have job security. Here is an interesting fact I found.

Anyone whose stocks rose in the late 1990s owes Wal-Mart, the world`s biggest company. It alone accounted for as much as 25% of the U.S. Productivity gains from 1995-99, says consultant McKinsey & Co. Such gains drove corporate profits, thus stock prices. Wages in retailing, one of the biggest sources of new jobs in the `90s and current decade, are also affected by Wal-Mart. With 1.3 million workers, it is the world`s largest private employer. It employs one of every 123 U.S. Workers and nearly one of every 20 retail employees.

If Wal-Mart and other like companies go out of business the US economy will be sent into a spiraling depression. Millions of people will be out of a job. Stocks will fall. But hey, you will succeed and that is probably all that matters to a cocky, over self-glorifing, self absorbed 20 year old.
Good luck on your failing goals.

It`s funny how much response a cocky, self absorbed idiot like myself can get out of a few people with some good ol American opinions. So I need to learn how to respect other corporations? You`ve all stated the upside to Walmart, now here`s the downside. Walmart poses an environmental threat to this nation with they`re sprawling stores and your right Walmart does employ a lot of people, some illegally. They`re not the good ol fashioned American company Sam Walton dreamed it could be, traffic jams, car accidents and consumer debt can all be contributed in one way or another to Walmart. I do have a lot to learn, I barely graduated high school and said to hell with college, but it takes a real idiot to never want to quit dreaming. You people must think I`m hell bent on taking out Walmart over night, as one responder said, putting the economy in a downward spiral. However, that would mean putting out one company would be the effect of my cause, Self employed business owners around the world would benefit from Walmart`s destruction, not just me. For the people who don`t want me here, that`s up to the administrators of this site, if they want to attempt to restrict my American freedoms bestowed upon me by our forefathers, then by all means. Until that time, I will waste your time because during the day, I work and I work hard, in the afternoon, I learn and I learn well and at night, I apparently incite a lot of negative response to the goal of several companies. You want to put Rage Wear out of business when it opens up? Studies have shown that boycotts more often than not, increase sales as do protesters. Eminem is a great example, when parents hated his lyrics, our generation bought his music, when everybody hated Howard Stern, you all still listened, that goes for Rush Limbaugh as well. Our generation loves what the elder generations can`t understand. Words cannot break me, actions will not take me.
