How To Include A Deceased Parent
How do we include a deceased parent in the wedding? We were thinking of putting up a poem at the guest book table or having the MC include a little something in the speaches. Any ideas? Know of any poems? Acknowledgements?

Laura,
I am glad that you enjoyed the poem. I cried when I read it, he cried, and so did his family, since his mom has passed away it was very hard for them. We didn`t have it read out loud at the ceremony because we wanted it to be more of a fun ceremony than too serious. We put it in the programs and I had many, many people come up to me and tell me how much they loved it. It is a very touching poem. We also had a picture of him and his mother and a picture of just her at a table in the front with two flower arrangements that we made with her favorite flower. Then afterwards we gave them to her two sisters. They were touched! I know if we had it read allowed he would have lost it and being a big macho man :) that would have embarrassed him too much. You should honor your parents in any way you feel fit. We felt her presence that day, we even took a mother`s corsage out to her grave. There are so many things but what it comes down to is that know matter what you do, they are there in spirit.
Best of wishes,
Jennifer

I am getting married in may and my fathers parents have both passed. What we are doing is making up a small table for them at our reception. We are going to be putting their pictures, a candle and a vase with my grandmothers favortie flowers on the table. We want it to be a surprise to my family so we are setting it up after everyone has left after decorating. Hope that helps

The poem that I submitted earlier and used in my wedding is the following.
If Roses grow in Heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother`s arms
And tell her they`re from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
And when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek
And hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
But there`s an ache within my heart
Because I am missing her today.

I hope you enjoy this. I had a number of compliments on it and also a lot of tears when it was read. That is why we didn`t have it read allowed at the wedding.
Best of wishes,

Jennifer!
Thank you so very much for the poem, its beautiful and I will use it. I don`t understand why someone would complain about something so thoughtful. The tears I understand but it makes the world go round as my mom used to say.
Thank You Again
