Mother Of Bride Attire

My daughter is getting married next month. My future son in law is great and I love him dearly! My daughter told me a couple weeks ago that if I wanted to wear pants to the wedding I could. I told her No way I would not even consider it. Well, I went shopping and fell in love with this pantsuit. It is a silver beaded shell with matching long sleeve jacket and then black palazzo type pant with a overskirt type thing. I like the way it looks, it is comfortable and the theme is winter wonderland, with colors being silver and burgandy. The tuxes are black with grey vests and ties. I feel it will look good in pictures with my husband and the wedding party. The MOG has not purchased a dress yet .Does any one have an opinion on this subject. I am having a problem with both the idea of wearing pants and then on top of it there being black. In the OLD days it was never acceptable to wear black by either Mom as it indicated disenhantment with the upcoming union....believe me I have none and then of course the pant thing. I have asked ALL of my friends and they say go for it, and see nothing wrong with it, but are they telling me that because they are my friends? I need some honest opinoins (which I know I will get on these boards)! I can return it if I have to. Please Help!

I think it is perfectly acceptable to wear an elegant pantsuit. My fiancee`s mother also wore black to her daughter`s wedding and it looked beautiful. She wore a black dress to the ceremony and then changed into a silver one for the reception. As long as it`s evening and winter, I think it will look perfect.

The pantsuit you described sounds very elegant and appropriate. I wouldn`t be concerned that it`s not a dress - you will look fantastic!

I`d recommend you go with the pantsuit and enjoy yourself.
