I Will Never Buy A Dress At David`s Bridal

I was shopping at a David`s Bridal on 10/25/03 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The wedding consultant (Jennifer) assigned to help me select and try on a wedding dress was rude and completely unprofessional. She insulted me and said that "dresses in plus sizes are hard to find." In additon, I was trying on a dress that was my size in wedding dresses, but she meagerly attempted to help me and said that "this dress is not going to fit you." The area outside of the fitting rooms was a disaster and I almost tripped on a tiera. When I tried to go over to a debris-free area with three way mirrors to get a full view of my dress, she told me that there wasn`t any room over there to look at dresses. I was completely insulted and unsatisfied by my visit to this store!

I also have shopped at david`s bridal for my wedding gown plus my bridesmaid dress and i found that some of the employees can be very rude especially to plus sized women like myself. Fortunately i found a cery sweet yound lady who assisted me in my search for the perfect dress. I had already picked out my dresses using there web site so i knew what would look good on myself, but the attendant so amazed to see the even though i was plus sized the dress was a perfect match for my body frame, complexion. Sometimes you find people who are nice, but i don`t think it is fair to say that it was the stores fault. If she was rude all you had to do was ask for another person to help you, i am sure they could have done that.

I agree that plus sized wedding dresses are hard to find. I am a plus sized bride-to-be, but she has no reason to be that way. She`s just jealous because big is beautiful! Let me know where you ended up finding your gown. I am in North Carolina and was planning on visiting the David`s Bridal near here. I won`t go there now. Thanks for the warning!

Sam, I`m so sorry that you were treated so poorly at David`s. I`m certainly not surprised though as I too live in Minneapolis, MN and know of how bad the David`s are around here (a friend of mine went to the one in Richfield on 494 and Lyndale -- horrible experience she had).

I went to a wonderful bridal salon in St. Paul and had a fantastic experience there and highly recommend it to others. I`d mention the name of it on this site but they will remove it thinking I`m a vendor. If you`d like to know where I went and had a great experience feel free to email me at: jaykay@usfamily.net and I`d be more than happy to let you know where you could go to be treated as you should.

I bought my dress at davids bridal and they have been very helpful to me. They call and ask how everything is goin and act like life long friends. Maybe it is location! I am very sorry you all had a bad experience, hopefully the rest of your planning goes much smoother! Congratulations and best wishes!

I HATE that store too! I went in and the woman assigned to me did not do a thing! I knew what I wanted and described it to her and god forbid I actually make her work and find me a dress - I got the biggest attitude from her. She came to check on me 15 min. After she put me in the dressing room and asked if I was ok. I said since I last saw you, I tried on 4 dresses thanks to my friends that were with me. All I have to say to them is that they lost a BIG sale with my dress and my 7 bridesmaids. I will NEVER step foot in that place again.

I tried on a dress at David`s in Jackson, MIssissippi and I wasn`t too impressed with the service there either. One thing that most do not realize is that you WILL NOT get the attention at David`s Bridal as you can in a small private store. The dresses as David`s are USUALLY mockings of some name brand.(You can look at Websites and see that). Also, the dresses are not any cheaper that the dresses from major brands such as Morilee and Alfred Angelo. I decided not to get my dress nor my bridesmaid dresses there because I felt like I was being shoved thorugh like a herd of cattle with the rest of the girls there and the girl helping me was busy with three other girls too. I just wasn`t happy with the service at all. They also do get a little testy when you make them "work". I am a VERY picky person about the dresses that I have tried on and the girl there was not willing to help me too much.
If they lose a sale of one wedding dress and seven bridesmaid dresses , it is NO LOSS TO THEM, there are several thousand other David`s Bridal stores to make up for it!!!!!

HI! I have heard of many people having horrible experiences with David`s bridal. Everything from Bridesmaids dresses ripping at the seams at the church.... To not ordering enough dresses to .. Well, pretty much everything and i think it has to do with the fact that they do rush you in and out and you appear to just be another sale... Actually i`m finding very few people that have been 100 percent satisfied with them.. But, on a good note... There are quite a few choices around the Buffalo,NY area when it comes to bridal shops.

I too was unsatisfied with the service that I received at David`s Bridal. I went to one in New York last year and though I received the help that I needed from the salesgirl, I was mislead to believe that when I was ready to purchase my dress that they would order a new one for me and that I should take advantage of the sale at that current time because they would not have the sale again. Not only did they have the same sale continuously after I purchased my dress, they told me that I had to take the dress off of the rack because they did not order new dresses if it was in the store. Also, the women who fitted the dress for me was very nasty and impatient with me when it was time to do the alterations.

Hi !
I have used the David`s Bridal in Ft lauderdale, FL quite a few times. I recently bought my wedding dress there. In addition, I have been a bridesmaid / maid of honor a few times and purchased my dresses there. It`s true, they do have take off`s of famous name wedding dresses, but they also have originals. I have always found that the prices were great! Last week I purchased my wedding dress there. I already knew what I was looking for, and it`s price in other stores. I have to say that the sales person assigned to me was not helpful at all. I just walked away from her and went about my business. I - DID - find the dress I wanted there and it was almost $500 less than what I had priced at other stores. So... I didn`t get the best help this time, but I saved enough money to still make me leave happy :)
I wasn`t looking for a plus sized dress, so I can`t comment on how they might treat a plus sized bride there. However, I know that the rudeness exists. While I was out pricing my dress at other stores, I noticed a bride to be getting almost blown off when asking about plus sizes. She walked out unhappy. That`s really too bad that she had to go through that, because the store DID have plus sized dresses and she seemed to have her heart set on a certain dress. The sales person was just rude and unhelpful. I hope she wasn`t a commission only employee because she lost a sale with her and with me, and that store was REALLY expensive!

I bought a bridesmaid dress there and the zipper split at my brothers wedding!! It was not too small but too cheap of quality!! I also had to get another one there and they order the wrong sizes for three of us, and lost my shoes, and lost the brides dress for a couple of hours on the day of the wedding!!! I have had three other friends that experienced similiar situations. Needless to say I am getting married this year and won`t get my dress or the bridesmaids there. As stressful as planning is and can be, we don`t need poor quality dresses and customer service-regardless of the great prices. Maybe someone should tell Davids Bridal that for every good experience you will tell three people and for every bad experience you tell at least 10 people. Hmm

I bought my dress at David`s , Baltimore MD and I have a very nice Wedding Consultant. A week after I visited the store I got a card in the mail . I think the location probably plays a part , that still does not give anybody the right to be rude. David`s should provide 110% customer service, regardless of the area, what size you are, and who you are. To all the Brides congratulation and good luck.

I`ve posted on here before also. I am very happy with the service I received in Orland Park, Il. I saved a ton of money on my gown. My alterations were only $65.00, and I was happy with them. I picked up my dress Thursday (from it`s final "aisle" ready pressing). I lied and said my date was a week before it actually is. I told them 11/22 instead of 11/29 to make sure I had it back....everything went smoothly. After my second fitting, I received a customer satisfacion survey from their corporate office, so I agree, that it definately seems to depend on the store itself! 7 days to go....I can`t believe it is finally here!!

I went to the new David`s store here in Mobile, AL...At first, the girl wasn`t very helpful (I`m plus sized too) and she was kinda like - "Go look for yourself." But I ignored her and went about finding dresses myself. As it turned out, they had many formals for big gals and I found a BEAUTIFUL dress that I loved. Once in the dressing room, the sales lady was much more helpful. She found me the appropriate undergarments to try on with the dresses and then helped me get that awful contraption hooked. She zipped, unzipped, and rehung everything. After a frigid start, she turned out to be okay. Unfortunately, the dress was way too expensive and being that David`s is it`s own brand, I can`t find that exact dress anywhere else.

I think that most of these bad experiences are the sales people themselves not David`s Bridal itself. My sister purchased her wedding gown there without any problems. I also purchased my gown there. I`ll have to admit that the first consultant I had wasn`t extremely helpful...but I also did not come in that prepared. The second consultant I had (the first one got married and was no longer with them) was amazing. She helped me with at least 20 different dresses. She helped me with accessories so I could see the final picture. My second experience there was truly a dream experience..because of her and the other customers. When I ordered the dress it arrived in less time than quoted, and my consultant sent a thank you card. I think that if you are having a problem with your consultant, you should say something to the manager and see if you could find another one that will be more helpful to you.

I went to David`s Bridal in Memphis, TN and the assistant was extremely rude to me. She would not let me look for myself and insisted that she picked out a dress for me. It irratated myself and my mother so we just ignored her and I found the perfect dress for me. I loved the store itself but sometimes you just run into bad, rude people and she was definitly that.

I just bought my wedding dress at David`s Bridal in Manchester, Connecticut and had a great experience there. The girl who helped me was very nice and very helpful. I too received a card shortly after my visit. I`m sorry to any of you who had unpleasant experiences.

I am in NC and went to the David`s Bridal on Independence Blvd. In Charlotte. Just a forewarning: be prepared to stand around waiting to try on a dress or get any service. The sales people wont let you find a dress on the racks and go to a dressing room yourself to try it on. They stop you and tell you that you have to register first, sign in, and then be "assigned" to a salesclerk. After this long process, and waiting around for a clerk, you get to try it on. But again, the clerk has several other people at the same time, so you do get left in the dressing room. They also ask for a lot of nosy details about your wedding, names, phone numbers, things I am just not prepared to give out to a store that I dont even know if I will be purchasing from, especially when they have shown such poor customer service up to that point.
I believe David`s Bridal suffers from rude salespeople as well as poor customer service policies. That alone would make me go elsewhere, but add to it the nosiness, the standing around waiting to be allowed to try on a dress, and the poor quality, and its a no brainer. Opt for a small bridal shop !
