You`ll need someone to register guests, Cut the Cake, Serve the Cake, & dip the Punch to name a few. Think of other ways they can be invloved Decorating for instance helping set up the Banquet area, Or for the wedding even. Most people will help just Ask & they will

Doesn`t the caterer cut the cake back in the kitchen after the bride and groom do the traditional cut? Don`t the servers then serve the cake as they do all the other food and drink? Doesn`t the caterer or hotel or hall staff set up the banquet area? Doesn`t the florist take care of all the decorating for the ceremony and reception?

Maybe your other friends could hand out programs, sing at the ceremony or do a special reading at the ceremony.

Maybe your other friends could just be invited and enjoy your day as guests. Not every single friend has to be in the wedding party.

How much, or how little, the banquet hall/reception site staff does varies from place to place. If you have a reception at a American Legion or a VFW you will find that in most cases, their staff does not do the cake or punch. However, if you have a reception at a hotel, you will find that indeed all their servers do these sorts of tasks. In order to determine what vendors are doing what for you -- you`ll have to check the agreements and then divvy up any duties that need to get done to friends.

What about having some of your friends be: readers, personal attendants, greeters (both ceremony and reception site), guest book person, program hander-outter, and simply guests?

Good luck!

It depends on what type of service you are having I`ve seen Caterers drop off cakes at weddings & not touch a thing. It also depends on the amount of MONEY you are spending. Not ALL of us can spend thousands of Dollars on there wedding. Some have Children & responsibilities to think of.

Sorry Tami, I didn`t know that. I`ve never before been to a wedding where the guests (or wedding party) did the serving and decorating. I didn`t mean to upset you. I just assumed it was all taken care of, I`ve never even heard of American Legion halls or vfw halls.
