Deprovera Hell

I had a depo shot and have now had my periods ever since, running up to about 7 weeks now. I`m going back to my doctor to ask him if he got any good perks from the drug company, I hope so!!

Please can you tell me about more of your side affects. I am going to get my first shot in about 2 weeks do to endrometreosis. I am a bit scared , more of the mood swings, lack of sex drive, and hot flashes. Why are you bleeding if it is supposed to stop our periods all together. Thanks Stacy

Stacy you should make sure they give you a hormone test before hand. Deprovera (or generic equivilent) is OK for some people but I haven`t found that myself. Probably I have the wrong hormone balance for it but I wasn`t tested. I don`t know why I have been bleeding ever since I had the shot, but searching around on the internet it seems to be a common complaint. Doctors are sometimes eager to push certain drugs because of the kick backs they receive. An alternative to getting the Depo shot would be for you to go on a progesterone pill (sometimes known as the "mini pill") for a while to see how your body handles it. Talk to your doctor about it, and good luck with managing your endometriosis. My friend has tried managing hers through using Chinese herbal medicine instead of the pill and I think it`s been quite effective.

Can you tell me the name of the herbal medicine? And, what did your friend do for the pain. They have me on Vicodin which is not such a good idea. Stacy

I was on the Depo for a year and bled 9 months out of that year... So I got off of it and bled for 6 months after that... It was a really sucky experience. The this summer i found out that i have Endrometreosis and they want to put me back on depo, but I am hesitant because i have already been to the emergency room twice for heavy bleeding from the Endro... They said that i shouldn`t be losing that much blood. A hysterectomy has been slipped into the conversation a few times at the doctors... They said it seems i have had Endro for a few years... That fertility isn`t something that i can excpect; i was wondering if anyone could give me advice or listen or anything; this is all really confusing to me. I am 18 and have to do this on my own, and i know nothing about medical procedures or what to ask or anything.
