Fall Wedding NOT Halloween!

Hi, I am planning a wedding for October 23, 2004 and i want it to have an outdoors feel type of theme without using pumpkins. I already have several ideas but would apriciate any advice you can give me. I will also be shopping in the Portland Oregon area for my wedidng dress if anyone knows where I could find a wonderful store that is not too expensive, but doesn`t sacrifice service with the price. I am also looking for fall invitations that arn`t too corny if you have any ideas.

Hello! Fall weddings are THE BEST! I`m getting married Oct 30, 2004. I although am using pumpkins. But it doesn`t mean you do!! :-) Are you against Fall Harvest fruits? Is this a formal or informal?? I would love to help out. Let me know what kind of setting you are looking for and I`ll start throwing in ideas. Colors, theme, leaves. I know I bought leaf garland from JoAnn`s Fabric at 50% off and I`m decorating the cake table, head table and gift table with it. I might put silk leaves I found at JoAnn`s for $1.99 for 80 in the Fica trees they have at the reception hall. I choose a golf course with a room called the "greenhouse" It has windows on two walls and it`s mirrors on another. It really brings in the outside. Give me a little more info about you and I`ll be happy to brainstorm with you. Do you have favors? I have TONS of ideas!! Looking forward to hearing from you!!

Yeah, I changed my colors yesterday. I am going with Wine and Sage. I am going to use "the perfect pear" as my theme now. And encorperating pears into the reception. Any ideas?

I saw that idea and it`s very cute! Hmmm... Pears. I am actually using Leaves and Pumpkins. I`m making chocolate leaf molds and putting a white mint and dark choc. Mint into a glassine envelope and tying it with Raphia. But Pears...hmmm Let me think. The sage will go beatifully with the color of a pear. You can place the pears in a glassine type bag and tie Raphia around it. Or you can get a small bushell basket for each table and fill it with hay or raphia and pears on top. Go with ivory candles! You could do a toporary with pears. I think a tericotta pot with a stick coming out of Raphia with a ball of pears. Ummm... Maybe not. Or you can put a floating candle bowl and float ivory candles and pears with raphia around the base. Too bad pears don`t sink. That would be nice. I`ll keep the thoughts coming.

Well Emily, You seemed to have attracted some interesting people. Just keep your ideas rolling and it will all fall together and be "YOURS" If you want pears you should have pears. If I want pumpkins I can have pumpkins. If someone else wants Halloween they can have halloween. Traditional or formal it`s for you and yours to be. This is for everyone. Be your own person and let everyone else be theirs. I know I`m going to get some responses to this but it won`t bother me. Hope all ideas are positive and creative to help eachother have their own special day.

There are a lot of varieties of beautiful gourds, other than pumpkins. Like colorful squash, for example. You could use these for decoration. Just go to the local grocery store`s produce section around sept-october, and take a look.

Hi I`m getting married September 18th. It`s early fall but still sticking with the autumn theme. I`ve chosen burgandy and gold for my colors. My ring pillow and guest book are ivory and embroidered with leaves. My center pieces are floating leave candles and favors are foil wrapped leaf shaped chocolates. Invitations are autumn themed with gold foiled leaves, excellent price ($88 for 100!). If you would like the websites where I ordered stuff so you can look e-mail me and I`ll get them to you.

I am getting married on Oct 30 and for my centerpieces I`m taking an oversized maragarita glass (from Michael`s) and glueing the top of a deep red silk flower to the inside bottom. I`m filling it with water and using 3 3" floating candles inside, and wrapping a little ivy on the base. The groom is Mexican and I`m Italian, so the red and candle light is romantic and the glass will be given away at each table. I`m using calla lilies and yellow roses for the bridal party.

I`m getting married October 16th and also using a pear/fall theme. For the tables we plan on having fall leaves on top of mirrored trays with votives and pears scattered on top. For favors I`m going to have the "fall harvest" hershey kisses in organza bags - burgundy, copper and ivory. My colors aren`t set to two - just fall leaf colors. No pumpkins for me either though. Also, an idea for fall favors can be candy corn, but not in the traditional white, orange and yellow, but the more realistic brown and orange.
To carry the fall theme through everything, the flower girl will be throwing silk fall leaves instead of flower petals (the church requires that flower petals be silk anyway.)
Good find for party favor bags - eBay. There are a few companies that just sell the bags, and they are about 25 cents each including shipping. The cheapest I`ve seen elsewhere is 50 cents on sale.

My wedding is planned for October 30. I found an idea that I think I`ll be going with It is tall glass votives filled with unpopped corn, a candle and filled with rafia. I`m also going to use small pumpkins completely sprayed with gold spraypaint. I used to work at a garden center and they did this -- it looks very pretty and is very inexpensive. Maybe 40 cents per pumpkin.

I am using wine/cranberry for bridesmaids but I am at a loss for flowers. Any ideas?
