Formal Wedding Question Please...
Hi,
My cousin is getting married next year and wants to include the word "formal" on her invitation because she would like to have people dress formally. However, her mom doesn`t think she should do this. She doesn`t think people should be "required" to dress one way or another. What is the proper ettiquette, if any? Any advice? I`m just trying to help her out by getting some advice.
Thanks!

Just put: Black tie
At the bottom of the invite. This tells men that they are required to wear tuxedos and women to wear formal dresses.

You wouldn`t write the word "formal" on the invitiation. The formality of the wedding should be reflected in the style of wedding invitation you use.
Some people do write "black tie", but that`s usually written on a separate reception card, not on the invitation itself.
