Minimum Invitees To Weeding

We are finally getting married after 20 years of living together and need to have a small wedding on a budget. How should I word on the invite that A. Don`t bring your kids and B. Just the person on the invite? Sorry to sound harsh but we`re having it in Reno and want to just have 20 of our close friends. If the kids come to it will throw us over by 10 more and the chapel will charge more. Our friends know we don`t have much money.

Hi Debra,
I would love to help you with your invitations.
Here are some suggestions for your concerns:
1. Word of mouth - simply verbalize it in casual conversation to your friends.
2. Wording on the invite - at the bottom of the invitation you can put "adult event only" or "adult reception only"
3. On the reply card you fill in the names of the people that are invited. Don`t leave a blank line for the guest to fill in the name. This way there isn`t any confusion on how many "chairs" you have saved for them.
