How Much Should A Wedding Planner Cost?

Has anyone used a wedding planner for a destination wedding? How much should I expect to pay and what do you receive? The information I`ve received from one planner is between $500 - $5000 depending on what I want but it would cost me $75 per hour for a consultation. Does this sound resonable? Please help! Thanks!

I have been helping with couple of weddings and I`m getting 10% from one, and the other is paying me $20.00 an hour, I`m starting my business, so for now I`m cheeper, than a person that has been doing it for years, but it really depends on what area you are located.
If you need any other help, just let me know.
Thank you and have a great day!!

Hi Tracey,
Congratulations on your engagement! What area of the country are you in? Prices can vary greatly, depending on the location, number of guests, overall budget, and a number of other factors.
We`d be happy to help you, and our initial consultation is no charge (up to one hour). We don`t work on a commission basis, so we aren`t locked in to any particular vendors. Feel free to contact us, and best wishes in your search!

Hi Tracy

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. The information you have sounds very reasonable to me. I agree with what Cathi told you. Another thing that can determine price is the experience level of the person you`re interviewing....less experience, less expensive.

In my opinion I feel that that is high, but those prices are not uncommon for the industry. Most due tend to run it on a percentage of the budget because they will generally make more than hourly. I don`t charge that way because I don`t think it`s fair for a couple to pay me for work that I have already done for someone else. Someone who has been in the business for awhile can plan a wedding in less time than you`d think.

Hi Paula,

A destination wedding is one which will happen in a place other than the city in which you live. For example, you may live in New York and get married in Jamaica or in San Francisco. I would recommend that if you plan to be married in a place where you don`t know anyone or don`t have any family members to help you, that you hire a wedding planner from that location. Getting married in a strange place can be very stressful and you don`t want to make costly mistakes.

I have been a wedding planner for 15 years. If you have any addtional questions, feel free to give me a call. I`ll help in any way I can.
