Father/Daughter

"In the Living Years"...it`s an 80`s song by Mister Mister, I believe. I`m pretty sure that`s the title. The singer sings about when his father was alive vs. Now...That`s the song that comes to mind given your situation. One of the verses..."I just wish I could have told him, in the living years..." and then the chorus, "Say it loud, say it clear, you can listen as well as you hear..." Well, that`s what comes to mind in reading your story. Best of Luck...

Thank u for your suggestion but what im looking for is a song for my stand in dad. Not for my father who is no longer here. I was thinking something to say thank u for being here on the most important day of my life.
For the father/ daughter dance im going to go ahead and do the daddys hands in rememberence of my father but i was thinking of doing a extra song for my stand in dad. I hope i cleared it yup thank u

Can I ask why you just didn`t have your Mom walk you down the aisle? You apparently are not close to this man that you chose if you have not seen him in 12 years. It is very common and acceptable to have your Mom do it these days. It really would be an honor for your Mom like showing her you appreciate all she did for you raising you as a single parent. Just wondering.

Bethy`s suggestion is excellent. It would be a wonderful opportunity for your mother to walk you down the aisle if that is what you decide. Since your father passed away, she probably had to be both a mother and father to you. Perhaps it would be nice for her to walk you down the aisle.

However, if you feel it`s important to have this gentleman walk you down the aisle, then you should do that. You need to do what makes you feel comfortable.

If you are looking for a simple song to say Thank you to this person for being there for you I`d recommend Dido`s Thank You. It`s one of my favorite songs and I`ve recommended it quite abit on this site and have gotten positive feedback from many brides. It`s a simple, non-mushy sort of song that would be appropriate if it appeals to you.

WELL I THOUGHT OF THAT TOO. I ASKED MY MOM AT THE BEGIANNING AND SHE TOLD ME THAT A MALE IS SUPPOST TO DO THAT. AND WAS TOTALY AGAINEST THAT IDEA. SO THEN I ASKED HIM TO DO IT AND HE WAS HONORED TO DO IT. WE HAVE BECOME CLOSER SINCE THEN.

SO THATS WHY I HAVE THOUGHT THAT A SONG FOR HIM WOULD BE GOOD BECAUSE THIS IS A IMPORTANT DAY IN MY LIFE AND HE IS WILLING TO SHARE IT WITH ME.

Last year my father passed away, the sadness has left me up set on alll the things we are deprived of i just want my dad to give me away. I have pondered who will give me away i have my mom who i am close with, but it is traditionally a males job so i consdered my brothers, one, or both who i am close with. My oldest brother and i get along wonderfully. I have also thought about some of my dads close friends, he has several who care about me vary much or and one of my best friends dads is like a father figure. I`am stumped in who he would want me to choose next to him. I know also going to play a song in rememberance to him and put a special note in the program and light a candle. I just wish he could be there
