~*~*~*~*~*~Puppy For Wedding Gift ~*~*~*~**~*
Hello all again!
This is the strangest question, but my hubby-to-be and I have agreed on getting a little tea-cup yorkie for eachother as a gift. Anyone heard of anywhere you can get one ... And not have to pay 1 grand or more for it .... Thank you .... Sorry for the strange request ....

You could contact your local Kennel Club -- they will know of reputable local breeders.

The only problem is that everyone wants over a thousand for them .... And with wedding money and housing money and car money ... ETC. It`s a bit much to pay on a dog it`s self .... I was thinking less than a grand ... But if anyone here thinks of anything else ... Please help ... Thanks for the comment Kay! MUAH!

Coryelle,
In what part of the country are you located? I just found out that one of my co-workers breeds yorkies and she may have a contact or two.

Please wait till after the wedding if money is that tight. Puppies need to go to the vet immediately upon getting them and get shots and a good check up so that the contract with the breeder is acceptable. The contracts I`ve seen state you have 3 days (usually that long) to check and make sure they don`t have anything terminal or you can return them. They`ll be due for their second vaccinations as well, and of course you`ll `need` to buy all the puppy essentials such as a good food, peewee pads to train them, a feeding bowl, collar and leash...etc. So if money is tight, wait till after the honeymoon and then you can both spoil the little furry baby together when you`ve got a bit more to splurge with :) And trust me....I speak from experience :) We didn`t get one as a wedding gift, but we did get one and had 3 days to make sure that it wasn`t sick...etc so that cost us one visit with our vet, then on the 5th day....of course after our refund policy, our puppy started showing symptoms of what was finally diagnosed as Giardia (sort of like drinking the water from Mexico and getting bugs in your intestines). Anyhow, ended up costing us 100.00 for meds for that, then that stressed the little guy out and he got a skin infection from being so down so the bad bacteria got an upper hand and so all in all before it was done with we spent an added 300.00 on top of what we paid for the puppy (and yes the puppy was from a reputable breeder, who`s name we received from the AKC`s directory for Dachshunds). So take the time before the wedding to research the breed, know it`s weaknesses, lifespan...etc. Buy some puppy items now, a bed-collar-leash...etc Good luck with your puppy search :)

Faith, I recently has a puppy, at 7 months we were forced to give her up ... Please dont ask. Brandy was my life. She was like a little child to me ... Hehehe, my little schnookum`s. So I have puppy food, leash, crate, collar, toys, lol even a water bed, and some puppy clothes, I already have a stair way made so she or he can get up on the bed because they legs are so tiny. Not to mention they have been carpeted so their little nails dont skid causing them to slip. I swear the dog`s in my place get treated better than the people do!! LOL. Anyhoo, thank-you for everything people! I love all your helpful info and I will do my best to help you all out on your questions and such. MUAH!

Coryelle, I won`t ask and I won`t judge....I work a lot with dog rescue and I even foster for a rescue group and all too often people are "forced" to give up a fur baby and then get another one too soon afterwards and the cycle repeats itself. Just make sure you`re ready for another one and not just getting one out of the empty feeling that the other one left. They can leave such an empty space on your heart and leave you wanting 20 more :) Lots of things happen after getting married, just my two cents worth to truly think about it. I`m glad that you`re willing to give another little one a home, and I wish you the best with that adventure and lifelong commitment:) Please don`t take my post for more than concern.....as I said I`m not judging and not interested in knowing all the details of your last puppy, just airing my experiences and dusting off my soapbox, LOL.

I just want to say that I think it`s excellent that you work from a rescue home ... That`s where I had gotten Brandy from .... Except I was forced by nature .... Brandy was killed ..... She had an excellent home .... I`m not getting another dog to replace on I gave up for adoption .... That`s discusting ..... Sorry, just venting .... I hate it when people assume I gave her away ....

Coryelle, I did not assume you gave him/her away for adoption, I stated in my last post that I was not here to judge and you didn`t have to defend your position or to tell me anything of the past puppy situation as it`s none of my business. I just always like list things that some people don`t think about, just in case I`m talking to an unexperienced pet owner. I see too many "look what I got for Christmas" puppies turned in at 6 months of age because little Billy isn`t taking care of it or it`s become a "dog" now and it`s just not as cute as that puppy they once thought of as a material present. I realize too that I`m not the only dog lover out their ;) and I take from what you`ve said that you are a great pet owner, and I`m sorry you lost your baby in such a tragic accident, I would not wish that on any one. I wish you the best in getting another one....I`m sure there is a furbaby out their waiting on you :)

Thank you ... I didn`t mean to go on the rebound ... I just get touchy when people do that sort of thing .... Most people assume I gave her away .... I had to tell some people that only in fear of me losing it about the whole accident. I`ll try out those links. Thanks again from one pet lover to another ....

Coryelle, sorry but it seems the powers that be think I`m promoting a "biz" when I give you links to people who breed puppies.....how I`m promoting anything that helps myself is beyond me....as I have no affiliation with those links they are just links that list breeders for that dog breed. But anywho my post was removed so if you need the links again please email me :)

Well we had a dog before ... If you read the above messages you`ll hear the whole story ... But we both would reall like one again ... It`s just impossible to explain to people why and have them understand. And yes, dog are treated almost better than the people in my house .... Hehehhe, I just bought dog cookies for all the other dogs in my building and I dont even have one. The leash, bowls, puppy food is already bought, I just need the right dog to give me that cute little look of "SPOIL ME" on his/her face and she`s mine. There is already a little guy in the house, my man`s son ... He`s 2 and loves dogs. You should have seen him with Brandy. Hehehe, perfect play mates. Anyhoo, there`s a little back-up.... Talk to ya later!

Does anyone have any idea of a Chihuahua breeder or someone who has "unplanned puppies" that they may need a good loving home for somewhere close to Mississauga (Totonto)???
