1940`s Wedding

I`m also planning a 1940`s wedding and have gotten alot of splendid ideas just surfing the web. But first I did some research on the era. It was very Hollywood and glamour. So my gown is a replica of a starlet`s day gown, very liquid sleek, sophisticated, sexy with sholder pads. The veil is very short attached to to a splendid 40`s hat that lays low down near an eye, at an angle. Calla lilies were the accepted wedding flower. My centerpieces are really neat (e-mail me and I`ll send you a picture). Favors are miniature calla lily candles. I`m also having a crescent moon fashioned to use as a backdrop for pictures (remember seeing those starlets sitting on a half moon looking so sad). I`ll be more than happy to send anyone pictures if interested.

Can you please send me pictures of your centerpieces, i was thinking calla lilies, with maybe like pearls in the bottom of the vase or draped in the flower somehow.... Also do you have any good ideas for invitations?

Dear Edith,
I know your post is quite old but I hope you will answer anyway.
I`m trying to write a book and there is alove story in it but it happens in 1947 and I do not have any clue how a wedding in this year looked like.
The couple is about to marry and I`d like to let to describe it as it really is. So I hope you may help me and tell me which flowers were used and what was part of the wedding vow. Did they write it theirselfe or did they use a text from the bible? And what kind of dresses wore the bride and the bridegroom? Maybe you could also tell me things you know and I didn`t asked.
If my english isn`t this good, don`t wonder, I`m from Germany, but I`d like to know about these things because it happens in america.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Yours,
Steffi
