Children`s Reception Table
I am helping my niece with her wedding. I volunteered doing a children`s table at the reception. Have heard of them, but have never seen one. Foods I have thought of are goldfish, juice drinks (not red!!!), donut holes, small cupcakes with white icing. Decor I thouht of was a Santa blowing bubbles to get their attention and get them to the table. Is that too hokey?? It will be in the country at an old home (1800`s). May be inside, may be out. In Louisiana it may be in the 70`s at that time. Any suggestions welcome. Thank You!!!

You mentioned Santa so I assume this is a Christmas wedding? As a favor for the children ( only with parents permission) maybe have candy canes for them to take home.
As far as food, so far sounds good. A few other kids favorites are butter cookies, vanilla wafers, cherrios. You could do a "party mix" of the cherrios, goldfish, raisins and some other type of cracker or cookies ( maybe small pretzels). PB & J ( maybe use pear jelly ...doesn`t stain like the grape would) finger sandwiches also go well. Just don`t over fill the sandwiches or they make a mess. Just cut them in triangles like the grownups sandwiches.
One easy candy type thing to make is to take white chocolate and melt it according to the driections. Then take some peppermint candy and put into a ziploc bag. Crush them into tiny pieces ( very tiny) and pour into the white chocolate. Then pour the mixture onto a cookie sheet covered with aluminum foil or wax paper. Let cool and then break up into pieces. Kids love it. You could even put a few into a sandwich bag and tie the top with ribbon. Hope this helps!

To keep the kids occupied for a good part of the reception, provide a basket with crayons or individual crayon boxes. Make the table cloth white butcher paper for them to color on or provide coloring sheets at the table. If you want to serve the kids something a little more filling, chicken nuggets and french fries or mashed potatoes are always winners (perhaps heart shaped nuggets?)
