Depending on the size of your families and the bridal party, you should allow about 2 hours (at least 90 minutes) for formal picture taking.

To shorten the time for picture taking after the ceremony, think about taking group shots that do NOT involve the bride and groom seeing each other. For instance, shots of the groom with his family, with the groomsmen, and with the bridesmaids could be taken before the ceremony. And, vice versa for the bride.
