Wedding On A 3-5 Thousand Budget. Help

I love all these creative ideas. I feel so nervous, and alone. I live in Orange County, CA. I would love to have a simple but elegante wedding.I dont even know where to begin. Any ideas ladies. We only have 50 people. My husband to be is fighting everything I suggest, maybe because he is paying for everything. This is suppose to be a wonderful occassion. If he had it his way it would be at the court house. Any tips I would appreciate. Also, how can I get him excited about a wedding. HELP, Trish

Hi Trish,

Neil Smith from DANDY DJ here. I have a couple of thoughts (the first being hiring my services of course!), but seriously, think about some alternatives to high-priced country club and hotel ballrooms. My wife and I rented a cabin in a very nice park from our city`s Parks and Recreation department and made it a picnic with a variety of deli foods box wine, a keg of beer, water and sodas. It was very unpretentious, low key and very fun!

I am a bit biased, but a good DJ is always less expensive than a good band because it only requires one person rather than a group of people. Be careful about bargain-hunting too much though because a bad DJ can ruin the most memorable gatherings of a person`s life. So can a bad venue, food and coordinator.

Try to do as much of the planning yourself to save money and avoid any vendors who try to tell you what you need rather than listening to what you want. On the day of your wedding, perhaps enlist your Maid of Honor to be the liason between yourself and the DJ, caterer and venue (basically jsut relaying your wishes to the vendors as your celebration us underway) so you can enjoy instead of "running the show."

As far as getting your husband excited about the big day - Be sure to include a LOT of his favorite things and make it a fun party instead of a stuffy, expensive affair. Nobody ever remembers how beautiful the ballroom was. They remember how beautiful the bride was and how much fun they had. Keep it light and loose and just have fun.

I would love to be in your thoughts for any music and Emcee needs you may have and I also have a large database of providers of all sorts I would be happy to share with you.
