Does it have to be a poem? Or a toast at the reception. Here`s my basic formula for toasts/speeches/etc.
1) Talk about how your friendship evolved. Share a few brief memories.
2) Talk about how you knew you were growing up. When you went from talking about dolls to talking about boys to talking about homeownership and planning weddings.
3) Talk about who she is now that Hubby is in her life. How does he bring out the best in her and vice versa? What qualities of their relationship do you admire and hope for your own someday, or treasure in your own now?
4) Wrap it up with how much you love her, you love him, you love them together and how you wish the best for both of them.
I was MOH at my friend`s wedding and didn`t even know I was supposed to say anything. I spoke "on the fly" and ended up upstaging the best man and received a lot of compliments. But this is basically the formula I used. Best of luck.
