Favors?
What are everyone`s opinions on wedding favors? Should I do them or not? If I do decide to give them, what should I give? What is the average cost of a wedding favor?

I am having a simple reaffirmation ceremony and I will be doing simple favors to match my color scheme. I will either buy simple favor boxes or bags, tie with a coordinating ribbon and fill with various colored candies. You can get personalized bags from JeanMEssentials.com $16.00 for 50, and they have colored imprinting on them with your names and date. I got some personalized wrappers for candy bars from eBay with our names/dates and a Rose on them that I can wrap around mini candy bars and put those in the boxes or bags. I also plan on maybe ordering some Colorworks M&M`s in the ceremony colors and putting those in their as well. Ebay is a great search for something like that, as you can get personalized ribbons, boxes, pillow boxes, or something a bit fancier to hold your favors for a great price. Another really nice low cost idea is to purchase the netting circles and fill them with jordan almonds in the wedding colors and then tie with a personalized ribbon or a coordinating plain ribbon with a personalized tag attached. Good luck with your wedding :)

Pam, it`s really up to the bride/groom if they want to do table favors. I`ve been to too many weddings where I saw over 50% of the favors left at the table at the end of the night. It was sad seeing this especially when you knew how much time and effort the bride/groom put into making them.
Personally, I`ve decided to not do them for my upcoming wedding.
If you decide to do them here are some things I`ve seen done at weddings:
Little bags (or tulle) filled with candy (Jordan mints or hershey kisses)
CD`s the couple made with their favorite songs on them (these were quite popular actually)
Truffles in little boxes
Homemade soaps
Candles
If you`re crafty you can do them yourself at a fraction of the cost -- or you can spend over $1500 like a friend of mine did on gourmet chocolates.
Whatever you decide will be fine! Good luck on your special day!

I spent about $2/pp on my favors. We got $1 instant scratch off tickets and attached them to chocolate poker chips that we had wrapped in tulle. Our favor card said "Take a Chance on Love". They were a hit and we even had a couple $10 and $20 dollar winners. We made sure that the deejay told everyone during dinner that they were in fact real and not to throw them out.

I make personalized candy bar wrappers as favors and the one thing that I think the bride & groom should do when deciding to have favors, is to make sure that the guests know that they are theirs to take home.
Some people are not sure what is a favor and what is a decoration. At some weddings, it is pretty hard to tell. Especially when people say they used a glass bowl with some decorations inside, and this becomes a favor.....how does the guest know? Perhaps leave a cute little message letting the guests know to take them home. I`m sure many were left for this reason.
