American/Mexican Wedding

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any ideas/advice for me and my fiance? I am American and he is Mexican...besides the food, are there any other ways to incorporate his culture into the wedding and the reception?

Thanks!

Hello Missy! First I`d like to congratulate you on your engagement! My sister`s name is Missy (well short for Melissa). Yes, there are definitely many ways to incorporate Mexican festivities into your wedding (besides food). You can hire a Mariachi band to come and play for a few hours during dinner or you can have some Mexican Folklorico Dancers come and dance/perform at the wedding. You can add small details such as favors (mexican candy). There are many ways to do it! If you need more help you can reply! I`m a wedding planner (and I`m Mexican), please see my website! Good luck!

Congrats! I come from a Mexican culture, personally for my wedding I wanted to keep it traditional Mexican wedding implying that I was going to have a wedding lazo (lazo matrimonia) in which they put over you its a long bead chain divided in half placed over the bride and groom (similar to the unity candle).
2. We have Arraz (coins which groom gives to the bride or if you like both of them could do it promising wealth etc) representation is that of vows in which through sickness, poverty and richness

3. Buy and additional ramo de flores (flower bouquet) to give to the Virgin Mary (if Catholic)

4. Depending on the taste of music of his family which you probably have an idea already get a dj that plays both english and Spanish . I personally am Mexican and don`t like Mariachi instead banda . See what his family likes the artist they like and than ask the dj to play songs by those artist

5. We do have el Baile del Dollar (similar to the Dollar Tree in American weddings) guest pin the dollars or other denomination on the brides dress (have safety pins ready so guest can pin the money on your dress and that of your future husband this is done as the music plays people line up and dance with the bride and groom

6. IF All fails buy lots and lots and lots of BEER you can never go wrong :)
