Blemishes

Has anyone had any luck with over the counter products for acne? I`ve recently come off the birth control pill - and my face has become a mess. I have a few months before my wedding and would like to have clear skin! Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Robyn,
I just started using B5 supplements, so I cannot attest to their track record for me quite yet. I have tried EVERYTHING else and nothing except Accutane has worked. I had to stop taking Accutance,so I thought I would give this a try. Check out their Web site www.b5supplements.com and see if it would be something you may be interested in trying.

A friend of mine tried ProActive Solution (the kind off the TV commerical) and it worked wonders!

Also, Neutrogena products work really well (I used them myself years ago).

If these fail, try going to your dermatoloist and he/she can prescribe something more powerful. You could get either a topical cream or if your acne problem is really severe, they can even put you on antibiotics. A lot of people with severe acne problems take tetracyclen -- acne is actually a bacteria and the tetracyclen kills the bacteria which causes the pimple.

Good luck!

I too have had the same problem. With my wedding in September, I really needed to find a solution now instead of later. I tried everything from ProActive, Acne cleansers to an Antibiotic creme from my PCP. Nothing worked. I ended up trying for a second time Clinique. After about 2-3 weeks, I finally saw a huge difference. It is a four step process, but when you are desperate for clear skin you are willing to do anything.
