Nbc Seeks Couples For A Story

WMAQ-TV in chicago is working on a story about couples who get sponsors for their wedding, in an effort to save money.
If you are a couple who is getting married and using corporate sponsors, or a company that offers sponsorship, please email me.
Thank you.

I`m planning my wedding for 09/04 and thinking about trying to get sponsers, but not sure how to go about doing it and not sure if it`s a good idea to do.

WHY WOULD SOMEONE ASK A CORPORATION OR BUSINESS TO PAY FOR THIER WEDDING? WOULDN`T IT BE MORE MEANINGFUL IF YOU WORKED AND PAYED FOR IT YOURSELF? DON`T ASK FOR SPONSORS MONEY. ASK FOR FREE SAMPLES AND USE THIER PRODUCT,BUT NOBODY SHOULD FREE-LOAD OFF HARD WORKING PEOPLE. BUY YOUR OWN!!

A few couples here and there may be able to get sponsors, but I cannot see it catching on long-term. My brother has his own business (financial planning) and has been totally disgusted and at times amused -- by couples asking him to buy an ad in their wedding "souvenir" book. The grammar in some of their letters is pathetic, while some couples misspelled the name of my brother`s business.

We would like to have companies sponser our wedding and we are looking for ideas. It is not about " free-loading", it is about have a wonderful wedding that would usually cost us up to $15,000. Does anyone have any idea how we can start this process? Thank you.

Michelle,

You`re correct: It`s not an attempt at "free-loading" ... It`s a "beg-athon" such as PBS regularly runs, offering limited benefits in return for funding. You offer a limited promotional opportunity to companies silly enough to help fund your wedding.

The essential problem being missed here, however, is that your wedding needn`t cost $15k in order to elegant, fun, & just absolutely wonderful. It needn`t even cost $5k. As a wedding officiant who creates & performs customized ceremonies, I`ve played roles in a few weddings whose overall cost for 100-150 guests never exceeded $2,000. Our own wedding 5 years ago, w/ 80 guests at a 7-course Moroccan feast, cost less than $4k.

Fitting "realism" regarding expenses into your wedding planning is part of the index of how well the ongoing marriage will work out.

Sorry for the bluntness, but mercenary wedding tactics greatly disturb me ...

Wishing you a happy New Year,
Bonnie

Hi Bonnie. Thank you for your input. Please give me some tips on how to have a wedding for $2000. The sponser idea, is only one of our options.
