Caramel Apple Wedding Favor--Questions!?!
I am getting married in October of 2004, and we really like the idea of caramel apples for one of our favors. The problem is we don`t know where we can find and buy these for a reasonable price, and how far in advance they can be ordered. Any advice?
For reference, we are in philadelphia

You have probably already thought of this, but just in case.......you could make them yourself. They have the caramel sheets at grocery stores. And it would probably be waaayyyy cheaper. I think that the apples would have to be made the night before the wedding though. You could wrap them in a colored celephane with a pretty ribbon to match your colors.
I love the idea though.....very original and yummy too!
Good luck!

You could always do caramel apple kits: (that is what I am doing)
Apple
Few pieces of Kraft caramels
A small bag of nuts
Popsicle stick
And a recipe to make the apple all wrapped in a cellophane bag with a fall ribbon.

I think carmel apples are a great idea! They are really easy to make too. Also a cool idea is to dip them in chocolate after the carmel, then different kinds of nuts (walnuts, pecans), it makes them look really gormet! I think you can make them a couple of days ahead, but you might want to do a trial run to see the actual time! I hae seen the gormet apples at Walmart in the food section before, to give you an idea.

We are doing carmel apples for a favor. We are wrapping the wax paper that they come in (we are ordering ours from a candy store that makes them) with white tulle then tying with a red ribbon...we already practiced on one and it looks GREAT!

OK, get this great party idea!! Caramel Apple Fondue!!! You just get one fondue pot for every table, then distribute caramel squares, crushed nuts, and apples! I did this at my husband`s funeral dinner and while the mood was a bit somber, watching people cutting and dipping their apples made things a little easier on everyone, especially our daughter. It was hard to see her so upset (she`s seven), but I just reminded her to fondue a slice for daddy, and she felt better. My only advice would be to keep an eye on the kids. Boiling hot caramel causes some nasty burns (as we discovered when little Timmy pulled the pot over on his head!)
Have fun! And remember the bobbing for apple`s trick on your honeymoon! (Eyes closed, and hold your breath!)

I think the gormet apples is a good idea. Anyone have a recipe that will make the chocolate look smooth. On top of the nuts. And what kind of chocolate do you use?
