Mother Of Groom Dress Color

The bridesmaids will be wearing lilac and white. The mother of the bride has chosen a formal dress and the color is called "eggplant". What color dress should I wear? Thanks.

Whatever color you want or feel good in would be just fine, but if you want to play on versions of lilac and white, as the MOB has chosen eggplant, maybe you can choose a deep cream color or champagne color. I personally think you should wear whatever you want as long as it isn`t a very "loud" color.

As long as you don`t wear white (or whatever color the bride is wearing) , the color of the bridesmiad dresses, or the color of the MOB you can wear pretty much any color you want. Typically people don`t wear red at a weddings although I`ve recently seen guests wear it....

Etiquette states that you shouldn`t copy any color of the bride, bridesmaids, or MOB -- the rest are pretty fair game.

Since this MOB is wearing eggplant and the bridesmaids are wearing a lighter color -- you could go light or dark since both will be worn. Perhaps an emerald green or a navy blue.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The wedding is next summer and I`ve been thinking of a dusty rose or mauve. Red is too dark for my coloring (very light). Navy blue never occurred to me but is an option that I`m going to look into.

I would never choose white or black because I feel that those colors are not appropriate for a wedding.
