Eloping

We had originally intended to announce our engagement and proceed with the usual wedding plans, but when we saw the madness and mayhem that ensued as our frinds planned their weddings, we decided it just wasn`t for us. It seems that weddings these days have become nothing more than a commercial event, leaving much to be desired in the intimacy department. My fiance and I are currently planning to elope to London, and intend on mailing out announcements while we are still overseas touring Europe. We plan on having a small-ish dinner reception (approx. 50 people) when we arrive back in the US. We figure this way, we can can the best of both worlds. We will have our intimate and personal ceremony, and when we arrive back home we can celebrate with those we love in a relaxed and joyous atmosphere. I personally feel that family and friends should have no say; a wedding isn`t about cakes and flowers and dresses and rings... It`s about that beautiful man standing across from you, the one that has captured your heart for all time, and the commitment you are making to sharring the rest of your days together. If others get upset because they weren`t "included", then they have to true idea what love is really about.
