How Does One Become A Wedding Planner ???

I have always wanted to be a wedding planner, and I was wondering, what does it take to be a wedding planner. Before you become professional, and after. Thank you for your time.

I`m interested in starting up a wedding planning business. Is anyone from Canada and interested in becoming a wedding planner or starting a business? Even if you are not from Canada, I`d love to hear from you!

I have just started my own business over here in the UK and believe me there is more to planning weddings than you think! A history in the catering trade would be an advantage, but not necessary. You need a great and wild imagination, sense of humour, the ability to listen adn understand, be direct, friendly, and willing to work long hours. I have been setting my business up for a year now!!!! You need strong determination adn the will to want to do it

You need to be certifed to be a wedding planner. I am just now getting ready to graduate with my wedding planning certification from Lovegevity. The class is great! believe me, I did my research and it paid off. They took the time to answer my quesitons. They were the only ones who actually returned my phone calls and didn`t pressure me to sign up right away. Be aware that there are other programs out there, but the majority say you must belong to thier association AND take their class. I tried talking to several of those companies, and all they wanted was my money and they couldn`t tell me how their class would get me going in my business. Anyway, as far as Lovegevity goes, they do have an international program, for you ladies who are in Canada. I`m taking their online program, it`s eight weeks...it`s so much fun. The program has walked me through the process of getting my business up and running and they have even sent me some brides to start working with. It`s part of the class. It`s an option, so if you`re not ready, you don`t have to, but I have been waiting long enough to get my wedding planning career started, I couldn`t wait! go to their website www.lovegevity.com and check out thier careers section. Everyone has been so nice, it`s made me feel so comfortable getting started in my new career. Good luck!
