Dying Of Wedding Dress
Does anyone have any information about dying a white wedding dress black or another versatile color?

I guess were in the same boat.. Im trying to find info for the same thing... Let me know if you hear anything good.. I want to dye mine black .. Or a dark color for a marine corp. Ball im attending..

Fyi - it can be done on some dresses, but you have to be careful.
First, if your dress has more than one type of fabric, it will not dye the same shade. If you don`t mind the variance, great!
Second, some laces won`t dye worth a poop after processing. (Some are treated to resist stains.)
The best thing to do is take it into a PROFESSIONAL dry cleaner - not somewhere they only employ high school students - and ask them about the material on your dress and stains (this will give you an idea of self-dyeability) and having someone professionally dye it.
P.S. Gathers and rolls of fabric will dye differently in varying shades if left in the dye as material that is single layered. Also, don`t forget about linings. And possibly shrinking material. Just be careful - it all depends on the fabric!
