Wedding On Holiday Weekend?
I finally found a wedding site after searching for months and now i find out that our date is booked. We wanted May 15, 2004 but we took too long to book it and now its gone. The only May saturday left is the 29th which is Memorial day weekend. Half of the guests are from out of town and Im afraid that date might make it hard for them to come. Has anyone had any experience with a wedding over Memorial Day weekend?

Send out save the date cards about 6 months before the wedding and 3-4 months before the invite. This allows people to be made aware of your uncoming nuptuals. Hopefully they will plan their vacation to your wedding location.

If you have to have a holiday wedding, Memorial day is one of the better ones to have it on. People are more willing to change those plans than say Christmas or Thanksgiving.
An idea to add to the fun for that weekend.... Since most people cook out for that holiday, make your rehearsal dinner a BBQ. Just an idea.. Especially for the out of town guests who are giving up their holiday to share with you :-).

I agree with Sarah, send out a save the date notice early so people can plan accordingly. I recently went to a Memorial Day weekend wedding and 220 of the 300 people invited attended. I`d go for it!
