Maggie Sottero Jd 8106

Hi there! I can`t find this dress in any store, but I LOVE it! I am surprised at how inexpensive it is, and I`m tempted to just order it and if I don`t like it, resell it (this would be a last resort if I don`t find anything else I like). When you say that the Maggie Sottero Destination dresses `leave something to be desired`, are you saying that because it didn`t fit properly or because the dress is poorly made? I can`t find many images of the dress, but when I zoom in on a few, I can`t tell if the dress looks cheap or nice. Do you like your dress? Would you order it again? What color is it? I am looking for all white. I really appreciate any help. Thanks so much!!!

I would not order the dress again if given the chance. It was white and the seamstress did the best she could. It had to be taken in so much and the top had boning in it so it could only be taken in to a certain point. I am only 5`2" and wear a size 4-6 and they got me an 18 because of their experience with the dress being so off from the size chart. The one I tried on in the store they said was a 16 and was a little tight in the hips so they said I needed an 18. Even after placing larger cups in it and taking it in everywhere it was just ok and the top looked like I had DD`s when I am a B because that was all we could do. The seamstress is very well known in our area and I trust that she did everything she could. Please find a place and try it on and see what you think before you waste the money. I was stuck with it because I trusted the shop knew what they were doing and it was really expensive to make it fit since it took 14 hours of labor to fix.

Vicky, thanks for replying! I`m sorry you didn`t like the dress:( I am about the same size, and I`ve had the same experience ordering bridesmaid dresses. I typically wear a size 2, and every time I go, the people suggest an 8 but I make them order me a 2 and it works every time! I`d hate to have this dress too tight, though. If you wouldn`t mind, could I possibly see a few pictures of your dress from your wedding? I completely understand if you want to keep them private. Also, with the white dress, are both layers white? It looks like there is a beige layer under the top lace layer. Is that layer white when you order it in white? I appreciate your help!!

All the other dresses in the other stores were around a size 8-10 that fit perfect except the length. The one on the internet site is the off white color they have available. Mine was all white even the underneath part. The bridal shop was really nice when I ordered it but still charged me an additional $40 upcharge for a plus size it ends up. 4 months later when it came in was when the problems started. They had put up 3 signs in the dressing rooms on bright pink, yellow and green paper stating that " That they only suggest a size and you make the final decision." No refunds, exchanges, or returns." Basically I was screwed at that point. When I tried it on before I left I was holding onto it with 2 hands in the back and trying to see what it would look like if it were smaller. I had 2 handfuls of fabric, one at my neck and one at my waist, and the owner comes by and says "Well that fits nice" She didn`t even look at me. My seamstress told me later that they have been having a ton of problems with ordering the wrong sizes, even on custom dresses that are suppose to be the exact size. Luckily she was not affiliated with the shop. Since then I have heard of them ordering bridesmaid dresses with problems and a couple of other stories from the girls I work with and others. If you live in the St Louis area on the Illinois side I will tell you who they are so you do not make the same mistake I did. I`m not sure how to post pictures on here but I have them on my facebook and we may be able to figure out a way to exchange them. Really I think it was a combined fault of the store and the dress maker not making the dress true to the size chart.

Vicky, my name is Lauren Gualdoni and I`m from AL (though I`m pretty sure I`m the only Lauren Gualdoni on Facebook:) I completely understand if you`d rather keep your pictures to yourself, but I would just love to see what the dress looks like in white. I can`t find it in any stores, so I`m considering just ordering it (with your sizing advice in mind!) and making it my dress. I`d really appreciate it!!
