Worried About David`s Bridal

I am getting married next fall and last weekend I found a dress that I love at David`s Bridal in Dayton, Ohio. After reading all of these messages about David`s Bridal, I am a little leary of buying a dress there. Has anyone had any problems with that store in particular?

I would say check on the availability of the dress and see what happens. I have worked with many of brides who have not had this problem and in fact everything turned out great for them.

In most cases you should get your dress ahead of time so you have it at least 2 months before the wedding. That way you know ahead of time if you need to have a plan b......

They have a contract in their stores. Read it carefully and go with your gut........

HELLO, I`M GETTING MARRIED IN JULY OF 2004. I AM HAVING THE HARDEST TIME FINDING INVITATIONS THAT COME CLOSE TO EXPRESSING HOW SPECIAL THIS DAY IS TO ME. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I would definitely stay away from Davids Bridal. I`ve heard lots of complaints about them. But that`s besides the point. The truth of the matter is that their dresses are not very good quality.

Carrie, I agree. I got my dress from Davids, I had my alterations done at Davids, and my Aisle ready pressing done at Davids. I loved my dress and saw it elsewhere for almost $500.00 more than I paid. They did everything that they promised, I ordered all my assessories including shawl, shoes, bra, tiara, slip and agaiin I had them months and months before I needed them. I think that we are the exception on here because usually people are not vocal if things go well. I am saying go to Davids just be smart. I did lie and told them that the wedding was a full month earlier than it was, but that really didn`t come in to play at all.The only thiing that I can say is I should have shopped around for my tiara I`m sure that I could have found it cheaper, but it matched my dress perfectly.Honestly as dresses go they have a hugh selection and you are not going to find a better deal.

I did not ultimately use David`s Bridal, but I "Kim" at the Milpitas, CA location to be so helpful and positive. I am considering bridesmaid dresses there. When in doubt, always give them an earlier date (or are the catching on to us, and that`s why dresses are delivered late?) so you can be assured you`re ready when the day hits.

But for tiaras, sometimes you can get gorgeous ones for under $15 (you`re not wearing forever, it doesn`t have to cost $100!!!) on ebay!! make sure it`s a comb, loop, crown shape that you want, but I have two from ebay to decide between and they`re both gorgeous!

I understand your concerns. And believe it or not, so does David`s Bridal. I am an assistant manager with a store, and the CEO of our company used one of these sites as a training tool at a sales meeting that included store managers from all over the country. We have people who love us, and...unfortunatly, we have people who HATE us.
But the good news is, we want to rectify that. I`m very lucky, and I work at a store with few problems. We comb the sales floor almost every day, if a dress is less then perfect, it comes off the floor. WE WON`T SELL IT!! I wish other stores in my company would do the same.
I know alterations in some stores are a NIGHTMARE....again, I`m lucky. The store I`m at has a wonderful alterations team who are delightful to work with.
I`m not saying we don`t have problems, but when there is a complaint, we (my location) face it, solve it, and send the bride away happy. Sometimes I ask myself, don`t stores realize the better service you give, the less headaches you have?
Anyway, excuse my rambling, but websites like this upset me simply because my store and my district are being judged as a whole because other stores fail Customer Service 101.
Your best bet is to call and make an appointment. Try to do it on a weeknight...or go in December when the stores are quiet, you SHOULD get more personalize service in December. When you go for your appointment pull both your sales consultant and her manager (assistant or store) and voice your concerns. Let them know your hesitence to shop at our stores. They should be able to alleviate some of your fears and give you the best customer service. The kind of customer service that all brides deserve. If that does not work, call the corporate office. You will find all the ladies in the customer service department very helpful.
Best of luck to you!

I saw a dress that I fell in love with 2 years ago in a David`s Bridal magazine and promised myself that when I got married that would be the one.
Well, 2 years later I`m getting married and the dress was marked down from $800 to 399.99 & discontinued.

David`s Bridal in Gwinett County, GA tracked down which stores in the country had the dress in stock. I called Texas that Satuday morning purchased it on the phone and it was shipped to me the following week in perfect condition!

I have not yet taken it to the local store for my alteration and complimentary prep/steaming. But I`m hopeful that will be a good experience.

David`s has some very nice gowns at great prices. No, you are not going to get personalized champagne and cheese in a fancy posh dressing room services. But take it from a former Clothing designer that worked in New York`s fashion district bridal satin is bridal satin, poly organza is poly organza, if your organza is silk that would justify the upcharge in cost. Also if your dress is made of real silk shantung or other natural fibers. All of the dresses that I have seen there are lined and made just as well as higher priced bridal salons using the same fabric content.

If I were you I would go with my heart and budget b/4 the dress that you love is gone and you`ll have to hunt it down like i did.

Good Luck!

Especially on a weeknight, when it`s not as busy. Just lie about your wedding date if you`re worried, a month before, so you`ll have the dress early.

I`m getting bridesmaid dresses from there, and apart from all the hype, I really liked my sales rep. Way to go Kim at the Milpitas, CA location.

LATASHA contact me ont your invitation question. As for David`s everyones experience is different. I have had both good and bad ones with them. I was able to get my maids dresses off the rack so I did not have the issue of ordering but when I would call to ask them to check if they had a size in a style etc I would get attitude or be on hold forever and when they returned they would say they do not have it and being that I needed the dress when I went in the store it was there. That I did not like.
